Sure. What kind of poker? My favorite is hold-em. Easy to learn. I can tutor you personally if you are ever in South Florida.

I would recommend you read a book on Texas Holdem to get you started. Cardplayer.com has books on sale for 30% off now.

Great suggestion for someone who doesn't know the game at all.

Angelle-

Winning Low Limit Hold 'Em by Lee Jones.

In your situation, you cannot choose a better book for low limit games and for strategy that a beginner can understand. It is probably less than 150 pages (maybe even less than 100) and very easy to read. The Sklansky book mentioned above will be useless for someone like you today and will do more harm than good....2 months from now may be a different story.

angelle,

Be careful who you take advice from on these forums. Theswami is a good player and does know what he is talking about, but most people don't.

Good Luck!

Angelle, "the" most important thing in Holdem, or in poker is patience.

It is WAY to easy to lose money online.

go play for free, fun tables and get a handle before you even make a deposit.

I would also suggest when you do take the leap, try tournaments first, you will get more bang for your buck, gain confidence, gain patience and most importantly not go broke in the process.
