I really expected a lot more from this horse. He was cutting back in distance, had made a nice middle move before coming up short, and was dropping down out of a Grade III race where he ran third. He got in position as they swung for home where I expected him to fire right by these cheaper horses. Nope. He hit a wall and retreated. Sometimes my best handicapping skills are useless.
