Hamels:think2:

He's filthy. Has pitched 200+ innings 5 straight years. ERA has been under 3.06 in 4 of those years. WHIP under 1.18 all 5 years. His ERA was 2.46 last year. He just doesn't get wins since the rest of his team is awful. He was top 5 in ERA for guys that went 200+ innings last year despite pitching in one of the top hitter's parks in baseball. I'm a fan.

Cubs ace Jake Arrieta has won 17 straight decisions, the longest streak by a starter in team history. The reigning NL Cy Young winner (6-0, 0.84 ERA) tries to help Chicago finish off a four-game sweep of Washington at Wrigley Field.

Lowest ERA among AL starting pitchers since early August 2014?

Drew Smyly

His numbers utterly line up or slightly top David Price, for whom he was traded by Detroit in July 2014....and his salary is about 1/5

Once again the Rays - along with KC and STL among a few smarter thinking other teams - demonstrate there is little need to pay any SP more than 8-10mil per season
