Sick- I'm not an ump but just like Irish I played some ball. I'll guess double play on that last question.

I think same as before, you can not tag anyone out standing on a base. Guy standing on first is safe and the batter is out again. The only way around this to get two outs is to go to 2nd base first (which forces the guy standing at first) and then go to first. Or catch the runner off first base with a tag like a 2nd baseman will do sometimes and then force the batter at first.

Was never an ump so could be wrong but I played a little bit, at least until they took the tee away....

Geez, where has all the people that were playing gone?? They have all of a sudden disappeared. Lander, where are you? What about the others? Maybe the questions got too difficult at the end, and these guys are quitters, who knows..

BTW, you are right Raiders, double play. Even though he tagged him standing on the base, he is out because he is forced to run because he hasn't touched first base yet to remove the force. Had he touched the bag first, then force is removed and runner doesn't have to run. But because he touched the runner first, he is out and now he can touch bag, and it is a double play.. Good job.

last one kid, this is where i get you...

Bases loaded two outs. guy hits a grand slam, all runs score.. but wait... they appeal that the runner on 2nd, never touched 3rd base. Ump calls him out.. How many runs count of the 4 runs?

Lets see who gets this now. Whoever does gets a thumbs up by me..

it doesn't matter if he is on 1st base as he is forced to go to second so 1st base for the runner is not sAFE, HE IS OUT.

IF THERE WERE 2 OUTS NO RUNS SCORE AS THIS CONSTITUTES A FORCE OUT

ok both of you are right, 0..

A ball is hit in the gap. The outfielder sees he ain't getting it to it, so he tosses his glove at the ball and the ball hits his glove. What's the call?

YOU GIVE THE BATTER RUNNER 2BASES FROM HIS LAST LEGALLY ATTAINED BASE AT THE TIME OF THE INFRACTION UNLESS HE GOES FURTHER THEN YOU DISREGARD THE PLAY.

woody, i don't like this. You seem to be a guy that I cannot stump, and this does not make me happy. You are too knowledgeable.. Where did you come from man? You were nowhere to be seen in the beginning, and now you're answering everything.

So where does batter end up.. 1st, 2nd, 3rd or home?

YOU DO NOT KILL THE PLAY WHEN IT HAPPENS, AFTER THE PLAY YOU PLACE RUNNER IF HE HASN'T GOTTEN 2 BASES PAST WHERE HE WAS WHEN THE INFRACTION HAPPENED. NATURALLY IF EVERYONE STOPS THEN HE WOULD MORE AND LIKELY GO TO SECOND BECAUSE HE HAD NOT REACHED 1ST BASE YET.

i will add 1 more - let's see who gets it right:

bases loaded - 0 out.

batter hits a pop-up to the 3rd baseman. umpires call it an infield fly - making the batter out. but the 3rd baseman intentionally allows the ball to pop in and out of his glove to try and confuse the runners and see who will run - not knowing the rules.

sure enough - the runners take off. the runner on 3rd tries to score and is tagged out and the runner going from 2nd to 3rd is also tagged out trying to advance.

go ahead people. how many outs are there now in the inning? i will post my answer when i wake up - for i am going to bed now.

Winky,

Ask us a little harder question next time.

Triple Play. Batter is automatically out, runners can advance at their own risk. All runners were out after that pop up, so inning is over big guy..
