How about throwing out some issues that you'd be willing to debate? I assume PPP is a righty so I suggest naming a few that you have a lefty position on...

I really don't care. I would rather not debate the war because it's so overdone. I'm not all that left, but I will gladly take the left side of any issue--death penalty, abortion, constitutional interpretation (not even sure what this would entail), drugs, social security, etc.

The only thing I feel really uncomfortable debating would be healthcare because I feel that there are very few (if any) people (including me) on this forum that actually understand the problems enough to thoroughly debate the issue.

If PPP wants to debate libertarianism, I can do that too.

Having said all that, I won't be able to be online much this weekend, so it would have to wait a wee bit

One issue I'd enjoy seeing debated is YES or NO, should the USA intervene in the middle east?

Another one is YES or NO, has the Fed been fiscally responsible during the current recession?

Yet another...YES or NO, does Iran pose a significant threat to the USA?

Also...YES or NO, should the USA continue to participate in the UN?

There are off the top of my head...everyone feel free to add more.

DP, nice try, but I think doc already gave his response.

Anyhow, we sometimes have productive discussions around here, or at least we used to. Not possible anymore, troll city.

I never had any problem filtering out any irrelevant crap from any threads in here, before or after Doc.

Righties just can't take any static IMO, they're too mentally limited.

Xpanda shovelled literally hundreds of posts into the rubber room at one point.

I feel sure that her time would have been better spent helping the poor and needy.

I would rather have a confirmed Democrat supporter with the issues being those that the candidates are at odds on..

For instance should the U.S. intervene in the middle east is too generic but Obamas approach of sitting down with our enemies and talking out our problems vs the present policy is a debatable issue.

I would want to focus the debate on the stands the present candidates have taken on a particular issue.

Health care, taxes, liberties, character, past associations, possible VP and cabinet choices, etc. (i know im leaving somethings out)

Im not sure MIMS is the right opponent i havent read a lot of his posts but im radically right ( i posted 4 yrs ago that GWB is a liberal and still say he is. i also dont believe Ronald Reagan was hard line conservative ) and i think MIMS is pretty much a libertarian middle of the road type. I would prefer a Doc Mercer type who knows what he's talking about and sticks to facts. (which ofcourse elimnates Doc himself)...

We got plenty of time lets do it up right...or left.......lol

It's the variation in the species Wull, different folks have different styles.
Skimming written material for relevance shouldn't be difficult once you get past high school grade.

Even if stuff is cut/pasted a 5 second skim will determine its relevance.
(unless it's one of those humungous mega scroll posts we used to see sometimes)

OK I agree there's no rush. Any hardcore Obama supporters (or anti-Republicans) out there who want to debate this man!? Please step up and name a possible issue or two!

I understand PPP wanting to debate a far lefty, but I volunteered to defend the left because I figured none of them would show up.

I guess PPP's issue is, can you be as passionate about a lefty issue as a hardcore lefty?

I suppose he wants to rub someone's nose in his own doo, and if you don't really believe what you are debating then the effect is lost.

I'm fine with you vs. PPP but I can see his point on this one. Either of you would be great against Doc, so it's kind of anticlimactic to go against each other.

It's kind of interesting, though, that no lefty wants to step up to the plate. I wonder what they're afraid of?
