Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will miss Monday's contest versus the Utah Jazz with left foot soreness, the team announced.

This will mark James' first absence of the season. The 37-year-old played in all nine of the Lakers' games to date, averaging just over 36 minutes per contest.

Guards Lonnie Walker and Patrick Beverley are also ruled out due to non-COVID illnesses. It will be Beverley's second consecutive missed contest; Walker is out for the first time this season.

Star big man Anthony Davis, meanwhile, is probable to play despite dealing with a back issue.

Los Angeles is facing Utah on the second night of a back-to-back. Darvin Ham's squad hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, falling to a 114-100 defeat.

James, who was listed as probable for that matchup despite his sore foot, logged just under 34 minutes as the Lakers dropped to 2-7 on the season.

There is no truth to that statement. Kawhi was definitely injured, as to whether or not he could have returned earlier in the rehab process is up for dispute. He got pissed off that the Spurs were wanting him to come back earlier than he wanted to, and things deteriorated from there. To say he faked an injury for a year is just not accurate.

There 100% is truth to it. He could have come back several months earlier and the team doctors had cleared him for a while and couldn't identify a legitimate injury. But Kawhi and "his doctors" insisted that he wasn't ready.

And then he decided to not play after he was cleared to by the Spurs doctors (as trustworthy reputable as any in the sport) for several months. He refused to work with team medical staff and hid behind his "own team"
