Ask the EU how well "investing in renewables" has worked out for them....A country with a GDP less than the size of California basically is dictating energy policy to that entire region. Solar/wind are largely useless for replacing fossil fuels, there is another technology for that but liberal green groups don't like it so we'll have to stick with fossil fuels for awhile.
Just be happy you don't have to share in the sacrifice of higher electricity bills all winter in the name of keeping Ukraine sovereign.

Lol greenpeace, yeah those groups really did a bang up job in Germany. They went all in on solar 15 years ago and their emissions rates are no lower + they have the highest electricity costs on the entire continent.
Of course green groups hate nuclear, who do you think funds these groups? There isn't really much $ in nuclear reactors. Whereas solar, wind, this new battery tech, that new geothermal tech etc etc all create a cash cow for someone. There is always something for VCs to get behind then have the gov't come in and subsidize it.
It is pretty clear nuclear is basically the only way we're going to drastically reduce fossil fuels via smaller, cheaper reactors.

It takes about 10 yrs to build a nuclear reactor.... and then what about all the waste? And how many nuvlear reactors are you gonna put all over the world? In a perfect world, newer innovations in reactors solve a lot of these problems. One thing I will give you is that we've been promised the potential of nuclear for awhile and it could not materialize, but if that is the case then we'll just have to stick with fossil fuels for baseload.
The alternative energy's just have too many intermittency issues and will never be able to scale a population of 8B with a developing world that wants 1st world living standards.
I'm always skeptical something is going to be here "in around 10 years" as well (just short enough for people to be intrigued/excited about it, long enough away that they aren't really being promised anything tangible) but all this other stuff is trash bro.
