So we should just forget everything that happened during the regular season right? The season sweep, the 65 wins, the best road record and just judge the Lakers off that one game last night, right?

No ! But on the other hand there was another California team who ended up in 1st over all in the NHL who are golfing now.

The lakers will more than likely comeback. But,s it one thing to lose on a tough break in a down to the wire kinda of a game versus what happen last night were the Laker,s rtythm was clearly broken having to chase the whole game.
You can,t bet the lakers at home laying points. They,ll probaly eke out a 5 pt win next time out. Betting the Lakers on the road is the only way to go.

Thank you, come again!

i agree with gyno that the lakers will pull this series out . . . but phil needs to make some changes. fisher will not break out of his shooting slump, he looks really tired and is coming off a horrible series against the jazz. phil needs to go with farmar even though he hasnt been playing much. having bynum back is actually hurting the lakers, they dont seem to push the ball as much, i would rather have odom and gasol together against a low scoring rockets team.

I personally never bet the Lakers when they are giving big points, and its just because I've watched just about everyone of them games the last two seasons and have witnessed their lack of killer instinct and playing to their competition.. The Lakers play best when they actually have something to play for and tomorrow they have A LOT to play for..

You make some good points, I personally think Fishers slump is due to change, he is getting open shots just not getting them in.. One good game could bring his confidence level up to where it needs to be..

I would like to see Farmar get more playing time..

Hpark, you are a sharp guy that makes good decisions.. I was really hoping you saw the value that I see with this line..

anyone playing the Lakers prior to game was paying -1200, now there is ridiculous value at -425 which equates to an 65% discount to the original wager because of a single loss. If the Lakers win this series 80% of the time the math truly falls tremendously in the bettors favor

houston is a completely different beast then it was in the regular season. playoff basketball is more physical and LA is too soft.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

Great post...Houston didnt have Yao for one of the games and Artest for another...and the last game happened after we traded Rafer...so u have a great point there.

The Houston Rockets managed to steal Game 1 of their Western Conference Semi-finals series against the L.A. Lakers at the Staples Center.

We now lead 1-0 in the series.
So, historically, what has become of visiting teams taking the first game in a 7 game series?

The visiting team leading 1-0 has an all time record of 25-72 in GAME 2 or only 25%

Teams without homecourt advantage to start a series who take GAME 1 have a 55-42 record or 57% of these teams win the series.

So, statistically, the Houston Rockets have close to a 60% chance of winning this series (without taking all other variables into account)

Things that are a factor in my mind.

1> Houston MIGHT have found a solution to defending the Lakers. We don't really know yet.

2> Kobe and Gasol might be both out of gas after going to the Finals last year and then playing all summer in the Olympics.

3> The Lakers just might have been rusty and punch Houston in the face tonight.

The best wager at this point might be to take Houston +10 tonight. Foget about the series.

I'm more worried about denver than i am houston. Two out of those three home games houston played against portland were life or death victories. And that was a young team with on playoff experience.

Here,s where you put your baseball chase system in Mr. G.

Lakers need one win in Houston to get their home court advantage back or the series is done.
