Dodgers finally won one!

After leading 13-0 they hung on to win 14-11 over the LAA, taking game 2 of the series with the Angels.

18-16 YTD.

1-4 the last 5.

2-8 the last 10.

5-14 the last 19.

Today they are -181 at LAA, 4:07 PM EST.

Another LAD loss on Sunday, May 9.

18-17 YTD.

1-5 the last 6.

2-9 the last 11.

5-15 the last 20.

The LAD have lost the last 5 series in a row. Their last won series was 7 series ago vs SD.

"After starting hot with a 13-2 record, the defending champion Dodgers have slowly come back to earth over the last few weeks. Sunday's loss was the club's 15th in its last 20 contests, and the Dodgers' league-leading 10th one-run defeat, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. They've now lost five consecutive series for the first time since September 2017.

Injuries have hit L.A. hard. Most notably, 2019 NL MVP Cody Bellinger has been sidelined since early April with a hairline fracture in his leg. The Dodgers possess enough firepower to survive Bellinger's absence, but they're not hitting well. On Sunday, they left 12 men on base while going 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

"There's no complacency. Guys are grinding. That's who we are," manager Dave Roberts said, according to Plunkett. "... Bottom line is we're better than this. We expect to win baseball games, considerably more than we lose."

"MGR Dave Roberts on the NL West: "We’re gonna be at the top of this division. I have no doubt in my mind. So what we do is focus on ourselves and how we play and prepare and other teams can take care of their own things. Right now I don’t care about the standings."

"Bauer isn't ready to panic, but he thinks his team should understand the urgency of the situation.
" "You can say it's early, no need to panic, and (it's) true, but at the end of the day, we're not going to roll the bats and balls out there and win baseball games," Bauer said, according to DiGiovanna. "We're not going to sleepwalk our way to another division title and World Series."

Max Muncy starting to hit which should help Turner get going. Don’t count them out yet waiting for Bellinger to get back and all their dreams will come true. But we shall see.

8:10 PM EST. Zack Greinke (RHP - HOU) versus Clayton Kershaw (LHP - LAD) is being billed by the efficient market as a pick-em because the Dodgers opened as high as -130 at some joints before said market got a hold of it. That provides us with this outstanding opportunity to get in on the Dodgers with some outstanding value attached.

Regular readers of this space know our position on Greinke and we promise you it hasn’t changed. His ERA is good but there are coal mine canaries everywhere. Batters are teeing off on his tepid heater just like they did last year. His xHR% says HR should be a bigger issue. Zach Greinke is not inducing grounders nor is he striking out guys. We repeat, graceful aging might be the most likely scenario, but his smarts won't be able to outrun his diminishing stuff forever. Dude has never been nore hittable than he is now.

Kershaw gave his fantasy owners a scare last year when he was scratched with back spasms on Opening Day, then popped off a vintage 10-start run. Even threw in a reversal of long-term velocity decline. There tends to be a lot of hand-wringing here, but last year's sprint season actually lends clarity: you can still take the skills to the bank and this year, Kershaw has been even better.

Kershaw’s history of elite control is still impressive. Though he isn’t striking out batters at quite the same rate he once did, his swing & miss %/K% remains in great shape, thanks in large part to his slider (23% swing and miss on 41% usage). If it's been a while since you last took a look back at Kershaw’s amazing career, we highly recommend checking it out. While the future Hall of Famer isn’t quite as dominant as he once was, his skills are still in great shape. Kershaw comes into this start with 65 K’s, 10 walks, a 0.95 ERA and an outstanding 3.22 xERA over 10 starts covering 47 frames. He’s now priced like Greinke is his equal. Absurd. Jump on it and let’s hope the chips/justice falls our way.
