Tucker Carlson Tonight

This article is adapted from Tucker Carlson's opening commentary on the November 9, 2021 edition of "Tucker Carlson Tonight."
Illinois teenager Kyle Rittenhouse is on trial right now in Kenosha, Wisconsin. You may have read about it. Lots of people are watching it. Its an event packed with all kinds of political and social implications, but its also as a pure legal matter, maybe the single most bizarre court proceeding ever caught on camera.

The outline of the case itself is pretty straightforward. Kyle Rittenhouse went to the BLM riots in Kenosha last summer, armed with a rifle. While he was there, he shot three people. He killed two of them. The prosecution claims this was murder. Kyle Rittenhouse says it was self-defense, so its pretty simple.

But heres the amazing thing: Every single witness the prosecution has called so far has wound up making Kyle Rittenhouses case for him. That would include even Gaige Grosskreutz. Hes the avowed communist who Rittenhouse shot in the arm. Grosskreutz was supposed to be the prosecutions star witness in this trial. But once he got on the stand, he admitted that Kyle Rittenhouse only shot him after he pointed a loaded gun in the boys face.

the kid just had an emotional breakdown in the box , he's crying uncontrollably in the box while describing the actual shootings

sounds like Wisconsin lawyers just suck. They're falling apart worse than Knightofrin's betting account...

The judge in Kyle Rittenhouse's homicide trial shouted at a prosecutor for a 'grave constitutional violation' during the cross-examination of the teen on Wednesday.

Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger started a line of questioning that targeted the 17-year-old's decision to remain silent after the deadly shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

"I was astonished when you began your examination by commenting on the defendant's post-arrest silence," Judge Schroeder shouted. "That's basic law. It's been basic law in this country for 40 or 50 years … I don't know what you're up to."

"You're an experienced trial lawyer, and this should not have been gone into," the judge added.

Should never have put an 18 yr old on the stand, tricky prosecutor can finagle misleading out of context statements out of him...

However, things seem to be going Kyle's way, the prosecutors witnesses backfired, the judge is stopping the prosecution with vigor when he steps out of bounds, so I actually have hope that the kid will only be found guilty of a minor infraction like possession of a firearm as a minor of something that can allow him to stay out of jail.

BUT jurors have been threatened and are afraid (wouldn't most people be?), the city fears more protests and violent riots from outsiders should he be acquitted, and all verdicts for many years seem to go against "people like Kyle" so, who knows? We shall see.

The prosecutor in the Rittenhouse trial clearly didn’t do due diligence before making the decision to prosecute. This tragedy never would have happened if the government carried out its responsibilities to protect the safety, lives and property of innocent people.

Tucker Carlson Tonight

This article is adapted from Tucker Carlson's opening commentary on the November 10, 2021 edition of "Tucker Carlson Tonight."
The Kyle Rittenhouse trial continued today in Wisconsin. In a move that surprised lawyers everywhere, Rittenhouse took the stand in his own defense. That is unusual in criminal cases, and it’s especially unusual in murder trials. And the reason is simple: the stakes are too high. One wrong answer in a cross-examination, and you could wind up spending life in prison.

But this case was different. By the time he testified today, Kyle Rittenhouse had already won the case. At this point, there was no remaining doubt that Kyle Rittenhouse acted in self-defense during the riots last summer in Kenosha. Every shot Rittenhouse fired was captured on videotape, and from multiple angles. Every single witness who testified this week at the trial confirmed exactly what happened.

And here are the facts of it.

A convicted child rapist called Joseph Rosenbaum was released from a mental hospital, then went directly to join the mob that was burning downtown Kenosha. Once he got to the riot, Rosenbaum saw Kyle Rittenhouse and immediately threatened to kill him. Rosenbaum then chased Rittenhouse and tried to pull the gun from his hands. When he did that, Kyle Rittenhouse shot him.
