That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. UFC is putting up record numbers. This bumblefuck organization may be done though...

Sorry if that sounded rough PO. Tired of defending the sport against people who don't know/understand it. Nothing personal.

The sport will be a big hit year in and year out (UFC mostly), but EliteXC is on the way out. They are $60 million in the red, have few brand name fighters, Andrei is headed to Affliction, golden boy is down, on and on.

They have a Showtime card in November, and if they make it past that they have a December/January show on CBS.

CBS can and very may well void the contract and drop the last date. There was a reason Shaw (the promoter) was screaming to the ref to not stop the fight, and when he did, Shaw simply hung his head knowing it was all over.

Oh well, it was great while it lasted.

UFC is an MMA company. The fighting you saw tonight is the same thing as the UFC. The main difference is the UFC is loaded with talent and this organization has few quality fighters.

MMA=mixed martial arts. No company affiliation. It's just the sport. UFC is a company with a bunch of MMA fights.

Really? Where could I see some of those PPV numbers. UFC isn't going anywhere but as far as I know they don't release numbers. :think2:

And here we have nomination #1 for the Stupidest Post of 2008 Award.

Done? Why? WTF are you talking about? No, you obviously know nothing about "this shit"-it's very, very obvious.

Was not a fan of MMA. I've seen in it on Spike TV. When this guy Kimbo made the newspapers as a streetfighter artist and he was going to be signed to a fat contract etc ec. I thought, "this guy is raw". From the Utube videos you can see he's got no defense, he's going to get his ass knocked out quick by a trained fighter. Sure enough, BANG

Lesson in life and Sports betting: Defense wins the money.

Kimbo got me watching MMA and I'll continue to watch to see if Kimbo learned his lesson and devotes time in the gym.

Lucky for UFC, many American fans didn't watch Pride FC events, and because of this UFC can put on sub-par PPV events.

The positive side of the UFC right now is that their production is solid, and they have great talent in a bunch of weight classes (MW, LHW, WW).

I really would like to see them reach out to the heavyweight fighters that are unsigned... Josh Barnett, Arlovski, Fedor, and Sylvia should all be fighting in front of larger crowds. If Dana White can swallow his pride and work something out with those guys, sign Kimbo (for the purpose of fanfare) and Lesner keeps improving, I really think MMA could be like boxing was at its peak.

In Kimbo's defense, he thought he was fighting Shamrock - and probably didn't have to worry about striking defense. This isn't an excuse, as I agree he clearly needs a lot of work, but I imagine he was working on defending leg locks and takedowns for the most part.
