well if three superstars shopped their services together and - when KG, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce did it, it was considered "brilliant"

KD has a show called "The Decision" - did he name and produce the show? all I knew was he donated the revenues to charity... what is another title more fitting for his decision? I never liked the name either but also couldn't think of another title...

and KD has a coming out party predicting "not 1, not 2, not 3, not...... this is really a reason to hate someone? an athlete hyping something up? every player with maybe the exception of Tim Duncan (maybe) has been cocky and talked trash.

KD can't screw the hometown he grew up in and claims to love, breaking their hearts with the decision (so we skip this one) - did he screw them or did they screw him and their own fans? bad gm moves constantly. Pre-Lebron, 10 year playoff drought. 4 playoff appearances before that which included 2 sweeps and a total of 2 wins... not series wins, just 2 games total in 4 years. There was little to no effort in improving the team with Lebron there. He took control of a situation. Now came back to the fans who burned his jersey and won one for Cleveland. Those same jersey burning fans welcomed him back with open arms.

and then KD blames the criticism on racism - never had heard this one, if its true, stupid and ignorant comment by him.

then maybe you'll see some hate

All I know is I'm hoping for the best for Kevin Durant.

He's a guy who has not let success go to his head & stays humble, while doing so much for others.

Him being the only remaining SuperStar who still vows to play in the Olympics says a lot in itself.

He's devoted to things for many reasons, not just his own, like players used to be...

Would love to see him win a title...

great post hache and i agree completely. if all organized leagues ended today he would still be at the public parks everyday hooping. he grew up the right way watching the right people when it comes to the sport. hope he stays healthy the rest of career and breaks through with a ring.

I think OKC's big draft night trade was the best way to keep Durant. The Thunder got a massive return for trading Ibaka.... Before that trade, Orlando had to be the hardest to pronounce team in the NBA. Olapido, Ilyasova, Vucevic, Hezonja, and they tried to add Sabonis. If they ever had a group email chain with the entire team, I guarantee you half of those emails would end up in a spam folder somewhere..At least now OKC has part of that problem. A problem i can live with...

Epic Comedy.

Don't forget what it's like to play in Boston under all those banners and retired numbers of the greats that have brought the championships. There is nothing like playing before a rabid Celtic crowd with all that tradition dripping around you. Doesn't hurt to be in one of the best cities in America and be part of the Celtic, Red Sox, Patriot, and sometimes Bruin success team.

Boston loves their pro teams, and supports them.

Also doesn't hurt to have one of the best young coaches in the game today in Brad Stevens and a GM in Danny Ainge who has made a lot of shrewd moves in his tenure, always trying to improve the team.

Most athletes who come here love it here.

Don't mind my partisanship.

I am a Celts and Sox fan (hate the Bruins and Pats) but Mich, Boston gets alot of credit for supporting there teams. They are better than alot of cities but let's be honest. Not as supportive in losing times.

what on god's good earth are you talking about?

Pierce was a Celtic and not a free agent, who couldn't shop anything

The C's TRADED for Ray Allen, they gave up 2 rotation players and the 5th pick in the draft

The C's TRADED for KG, they gave up 5 players, cash AND TWO 1st round picks

so lets write your story correctly

NONE of the C's were free agents
They did not shop their services to anybody anywhere ever
The C's gave up talent and cash and 3 1st round draft picks

None of what you said is remotely accurate, which begs the question, WTF? where do you come up with such poppycock?

face)(*^%

as for all the hate, tell it to Cleveland and Ohio and the scores of millions of Americans who started to hate him for some strange reason

The C's Big three didn't shop anything ever and KD won't be hated

KE, think about it. We've had an infusion of ownership around here over the past twenty years that does everything to prevent losing. In fact to upgrade the franchises in every possible way. The C's got team Grousbeck, top coaches, a top GM in Danny Ainge, a new Garden, and a Championship out of rubble. The Patriots got Bob Kraft, the best NFL coach of all time in Bellichick, Patriot Place, and a team that has dominated the game for fifteen years now. The Red Sox got John Henry, two championships and a doctored up Fenway which is the centerpiece for a whole neighborhood renaissance. These owners are here to win. And all three have succeeded. Few pro teams have a proud tradition as strong as the Celtics. Maybe the Yankees and Canadiens. Maybe the Lakers. They just signed Horford, a solid big man to go with a core of scrappy, unselfish players. Durant would have this team on the verge of another banner to be hoisted to the Garden rafters to join the other 17 already there. No pro team has that many Championships. If the player has a sense of sports history, like Kevin Garnett had, there is a lure to being a part of Celtic greatness.

And the college teams don't compete in Boston.

If Durant went to the Warriors I'm sure he would get some "hate". Going to the team that just beat you in the conference finals and prevented you from winning the championship while making them absolutely stacked in the process wouldn't sit well with a lot of people. He isn't as polarizing of a figure as a LeBron or Kobe so he probably would escape the true wrath of sports fans but he definitely wouldn't be immune from criticism for it. I don't really think he'll go there but if he did I'm sure there would be a decent amount of faux outrage about it.

From a basketball standpoint, it would be over for atleast a few years if that happened.

Willie your old mind is letting you down.... did you forget KG did have a major say so in allowing this to happen. Yes technically he was not a FA and I never said he was. Here is a memory refresher for you: http://espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2954127

OK, KG had to "approve" the trade. The fact is none of them were free agents, they never once shopped their services together and the Celtics made trades and had to give up significant value in return.

That's a far cry from your argument all three were free agents and shopped their services to various teams just like James and Wade and Bosh did.

KG having a no trade clause doesn't make me wrong, nor does it make you right

The GM made the C's big three happen, and he already had one under contract

I get what you are saying. I just think KG agreeing to go only if Ray Allen is acquired isn't a big stretch in difference than superstars joining up. KG made the GM's do the work for them. They weren't a victim of circumstance or someone else's actions, they just had others do the work for them. KD made teams come to NYC to pitch to him. Lebron talked with other players to join up. Atleast that is what reported to us in each situation. All different paths lead to the same result. Yet so far, only 1 is hated for it. I'm not a fan or hater of any of those teams, I usually was cheering against them. Just was making observations here.

Durant going to the Warriors would be like if LeBron went to the Celtics after the 2010 season instead of joining the Heat. Lost to them in the playoffs and they lost in game 7 of the finals.

Instead the Celts got Shaq and he was like 350 pounds.
