The IRS is a SCAM!!! Do some research. Watch America: Freedom to Facism free on google video. The main reason I quit my corporate job to work from home. I don't pay the IRS shit. You contract with them when you sign the w4 or any tax form. If you don't mind supporting the welfare state then by all means do as you please. Vote for Ron Paul as he plans on abolishing the Unlawful IRS. Make sure you understand the difference between indirect taxes and direct taxes. Indirect taxes are Constitutional whereas Direct Taxes are Unconstitutional. Best advice I can give is to do your research unless you don't mind giving half your income to the welfare state. Along the lines of your question, to put it another way, if you ever got audited and they went through your bank records, wouldn't they also ask the bank for all their records and the bank would let them know of the cashed checks?

Th answer is yes, if you get a full audit done on you they will get your bank records. Not just the monthly statement but all transactions linked to the account.
