If you think that greed is the downfall of capitalism and that greedy politicians are to blame. What do you think will happen in a socialist economy where the greedy politicians run everything. Yes, socialism rocks that is why it has pretty much failed everywhere it has been!

Interesting that you keep thinking that people are not as smart as you.

Not true, just you. You spelled everything in your sentence correctly this time, so that's a positive step. Great job!

The real issue is not which is better, the real issues are which socialist programs should we have and how far should we let the free-market dominate before regulating it

We already have a mixed market, its been that way since the beginning

as for which social programs we need, not any more then we already have

the only thing that matter is this:

Adults under 30 are essentially evenly divided: 37% prefer capitalism, 33% socialism

it'll be 37 socialism, 33 capitalism in 6 months.

"god i love always being right. everything that marx has said has come to revelation"

May I present Karl Marx's 10 point program presented in his
Communist Manifesto:

1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rent to public purpose.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.

6. Centralization of the means of communication and transportation in the hands of the State

7. Extention of factories and instruments of production owned by the State, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.

8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of Industrial armies, especially for agriculture.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.

10. Free education for all children in government schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. etc.

god i love always being right. everything marx has said has come to revelation. 6 months from now this will be reversed.

Only 53% of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 20% disagree and say socialism is better. Twenty-seven percent (27%) are not sure which is better.
Adults under 30 are essentially evenly divided: 37% prefer capitalism, 33% socialism, and 30% are undecided. Thirty-somethings are a bit more supportive of the free-enterprise approach with 49% for capitalism and 26% for socialism. Adults over 40 strongly favor capitalism, and just 13% of those older Americans believe socialism is better.
Investors by a 5-to-1 margin choose capitalism. As for those who do not invest, 40% say capitalism is better while 25% prefer socialism.
There is a partisan gap as well. Republicans - by an 11-to-1 margin - favor capitalism. Democrats are much more closely divided: Just 39% say capitalism is better while 30% prefer socialism. As for those not affiliated with either major political party, 48% say capitalism is best, and 21% opt for socialism.

Bachus says there's 17 'socialists' in House

Rep. Spencer Bachus, the top Republican on the Financial Services Committee, told a hometown crowd in Alabama today he believes there are several socialists in the House.
Actually, he says there are exactly 17 socialists in the House of Representatives. according to the Birmingham News:
But he said he is worried that he is being steered too far by the Congress: "Some of the men and women I work with in Congress are socialists."

Asked to clarify his comments after the breakfast speech at the Trussville Civic Center, Bachus said 17 members of the U.S. House are socialists.
Searching the POLITICO style book and the official U.S. House listings, we don't see a category for socialists -- just a lot of Ds and Rs next to lawmaker names. And Bachus didn't name names of the socialist 17.

Question: What is this under 30 crowd representative of?

1) Indoctrinated to a left leaning educational system. Everyone is special and equally talented.

2) The first of the "me generation" is now here and in there twenties. They are typified by a lifetime of praise for even the smallest accomplishments. Having no competitive edge since noone keeps score anymore so noone's feelings get hurt. Everyone is a winner. Here's your ninth place trophy Carter, you are special. Why do you think some of these dipshits end up making asses of themselves on American Idol? They were never told they are just average or that they outright suck at singing. Instead their mommies and daddies told them how wonderful and talented they were and they can be whatever they want to be if they try. Simon is the reality check for them and now they will need years of therapy to get over the truth. (Just my theory on Amer. Idol)

3) You can't blame GTC, He is a product of this pussification of the youth in America. And now indoctrinated with a liberal education. He thinks he knows about being in the real world and having a real career, and a mortgage, and a family to look out for. He will take a few years in the real world to figure things out and I would bet he would look back (when he's about 36) on these dozens of Obama man-crush threads he started and laugh at what a little pompous know-it-all punk he was in his twenties.

All of them are socialists. It is just a matter of which socialist programs they prefer

Only 53% of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism.

So approximately 47% believe the other way around.

Good deal, since the USA and Canada are a nice mixture of both capitalistic business and socialistic government in varying degrees.

That isn't the belief of capitalism but Keynes was correct when he said "in the long run, everyone is dead," and thankfully that came true for him. He was such a black mark on human existence.

You know what's funny? The more Conservatives try to paint every single one of Obama's actions as Socialist, the more they dilute the impact of the word as long as he remains popular.

Their intent is to tie Obama to Soviet Union style socialism when most people, especially the young, more closely associate it with European Social Democracies.

Also, they bring awaremess to just how radical they are to Moderate Republicans which will lead to further fracturing an already stumbling policital party.

gtc...how does it feel to get "pwned"...?

:toast:

Incidentally, did anyone catch the bitching because Arizona St. had the sack to say "screw Obama...why should we give him a degree?"

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090411/ap_on_re_us/obama_honorary_degree

TEMPE, Ariz. – Stung by criticism of its decision not to award President Barack Obama an honorary degree when he makes a commencement address next month, Arizona State University announced Saturday it will rename a scholarship program for the president.

Naturally, they've caved in since the media went into a tizzy. What...is it now a crime to not shower the highest of praise on our dear leader?

This reminds me of something I watched on the History Channel a while back. Whenever Joseph Stalin was introduced to his parliment before one of his speeches, the clapping would last for a good 10 minutes before he could get a word in. Why? Because no one would dare be the first to stop clapping. That would have been considered a sign of "disrespect." Some members were thrown in jail and ultimately lost their lives for not showing enough respect to Stalin. But hell...the KGB mind police has nothing on today's pro-Obama crowd...

Hilarious. Real Sports just ran a story related to this and they used the term wussification. They showed a school in AZ where kids can't even play tag because they is a no touching policy. These kids give "air high fives" and "air hugs". Tag was banned to prevent the numerous injuries to children. When asked what type of injuries were occurring, she replied scrapes and bruises. WTF their kids and it's OK to play and experience a little pain now and then. Remember playing hockey with a hard puck and no pads? We tried to play "no-lift" but invariably you would take a couple off the shins every day and it hurt like hell but that is part of growing up. These litlle pussies can't even bike in their own yard anymore w/out head to toe padding. Time to nut-up and toughen these little coddled pussies up or we will end up w/ a world full of GTCs.
