i would have taken a late round shot with the kid, he would have been a first rounder last year. more worth it than taking a qb in the first round like bradford or tebow, too much risk

Sam Bradford is a franchise QB.

Most accurate passer I have seen in 25 years of following CFB.

Snead can't think, he is arguably one of the dumbest qbs over the past 5 years.

I couldn't understand last year when all the ESPN A holes were saying he is big time player.

We know why he didn't start at Texas. He was great at throwing worm burners.
And when the so called ESPN draft experts don't get a certain player right when a team selects a different player than what they said they should pick, they go into meltdown mode "what are the KC Chiefs thinking drafting Joe Blow......."

They act like a 5th grader whose lunch money has been stolen.

Bill Tobin on Mel Kiper

"Who in the hell is Mel Kiper, anyway? To my knowledge, he's never put on a jockstrap, he's never been a player, and all of a sudden he's an expert. He's never been a scout. He's never been an administrator. Mel has no more credibility to do what he's doing than my neighbor. And my neighbor is a postman who doesn't even have season tickets."

Incorrect. High 4th round can receive up to $250K Signing bonus, low to mid 4th round, you are looking at $125-$175K

I wasn't very clear. I meant the 7th rounder. You are correct about 4th-5th round bonuses. If I am a qb and not drafted after the 6th round, its better not to be drafted. Like lefty pitchers, you will get a chance somewhere.

I agree.

If your agent is smart he gets you with a team that has 2 backups that are either very experienced, but a team may not want to pay their salary and get a guy at the league minimum or a team where 2/3/4 qbs are battling for rosters spots and nobody is a lock, like say Vick is in Philly to be on the squad.

Bill to your point. Watch during the CFB season, accorinding the "Analysts at ESPN, 423 guys will be going in the 1st round.

Mike Gottfried was the king of this:

"Ron, that young man is going to be a first round pick in next April's draft"

First round pick as a gas station attendant.

Good info. I knew the signing bonuses went up. I didn't account for it correctly. I was going based on old figures from the early part of the decade.

i told anyone who would listen last summer that snead was overrated and both crompton and tebow had more nfl potential, but im just a homer that dont know much about the game.

for SEC qbs to watch this year dont be surprised if McElroy loses his starting job at Alabama. not that hes bad, but McCarron is that good. dont be surprised if Brantley loses his job at UF, hes not gonna be as good as Gator fans expect.

How bad could Brantley be?
He was 2006 HS player of the year, and as a Florida backup QB in 2009 he was 48 for 75 in six games with 7 TD's and 0 INT's, pretty nice numbers, his passing rating of 113.0 is even nicer, if I was a Gator fan, and I'm not, I'd feel confident with Brantley.

he might be good in year 2. those numbers mean nothing really. he could end up in the NFL. all im sayin is there will be grumblings this fall as he tries to fill tebows shoes. expectations are unrealistic.

so gators...... how you like that Brantley fella now? you were warned that he would be your own personal version of Jonathon Crompton. ill give Meyer some credit for not quitting mid season (yet) , but id say 30% chance he coaches next year. enjoy.
