Jets over Raiders

I parlayed the Pats over the Broncos with the Jets over the Raiders and I like my chances. The Jets should man-handle the Raiders with Pennington quarterbacking for them, not sure what happened in that Giants game but I don't need to research the Jets to know that they are quite better than the Raiders and should crush 'em. The Raiders were an embarrassment in the Lions game. They've completely degenerated into the Faiders, again, much to my dismay. The coaching for this team is absolutely aweful. These guys are making Mike Martz look like a genius. Maybe they'll actually try to win the game, which it didn't look like they did in Detroit, but that doesn't mean the Jets won't cover the measley 2 points. Rick Mirer(?)""It looks as though Rick Mirer will be the starting quarterback," Callahan said." against Chad Pennington -3?!?!?!?!? you've got to be kidding me. best bet.

And they've signed Rob Johnson to back-up Mirer if that wasn't enough incentive.

I like the jets as well im thinking about taking them in my suicide pool. Either the jets or the nyg, but Dan Reeves used to coach for the g-men and he might pull of a win vs. his former team. What do you think Oren1 jets or giants?

not sure, I thought the niners would get beat by the Rams at home last week and look what happened. The Giants are at home so maybe that's a safer bet. I don't see why they would but I guess the entire Raider team could decide to pull it's head out of it's ass for this game, but I don't see why that qwould happen other than playing for pride in front of the home crowd, which is plausible. This defense also had the Jets number last year in the playoffs. They both look equally attractive to me, maybe the Giants more so with the home advantage.

or with the state of disarray the Raiders are in, they could pull a jackmove on everybody (including the betters) and actually win this game.

I dunno.......The filthy Whiners werein no way supposed to wax the Rams last week. I can foresee a Mt.Everest pile size of action on the Jets this Sunday. i highly doubt Vegas would take a bath.

But well see.

oakland's last 13 games they are 0-13 ATS (super bowl, 4 NFLX and 8 reg season games) and the way i see it - as long as the number on the left is a "0" i will play against them all the time.

besides - who would you rather put your money on - chad pennington or rick mirer? who would you rather have as your HC - herman edwards or bill callahan? and we know the home fans will not be out there en masse to support their team. the black hole will be there - but that's about it.

jets -3 is a gift!

he'll be the back-up, any line movement will be based on Jets backers knowing Mirer will be the starter. I believe the line opened at 2. And Rob Johnson will be just as bad as Mirer, especially since he doesn't know jack about their system. Maybe he does, actually, every defense in the NFL apparently knows all their plays.

keep in mind - rob played for the bills for some time - and the bills are in the same division as the Jets - so they know what he is about - and what he is about is holding on to the ball waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long and preferring to take a sack asopposed to tossing an incomplete pass.

mirer and johnson both blow - and whoever plays sucks just as much!

as for longest 0-fer streak - no clue - but i'd be shocked if someone doesn't mention it this week on any site out there. i think the longest to start a season is 9 straight by the bungals a few years ago (i know - what a shock) and the reason i say that is because i think i read somewhere no team has ever dropped their first 10 games ATS. when i was told this stat/trend i took the bungals in their 10th game - and they covered. i will look this up to be sure - but if it is true - and the jets cover this week - it brings up a dilemma next week.

What system do the Raiders have that Johnson needs to learn? Chaos doesn't need to be learned.

Bingo. In 2000, Johnson was sacked 49 times. In 2001, 31 times. Even funnier, in the two games he played with Washington this year, he threw 7 attempts, and had 3 sacks. Nice ratio. The guy stinks.

I used to own a bar, and in '01 I had 'The Rob Johnson Sack Pool' each weekend. In week 1, had eight takers ... by the end of the season, well over 100 people were in the pool weekly. A riot.
