Ellsbury's numbers away from Fenway in 53 games

AVG. .234
OBP. .289
SLG .303

Beyond putrid. How many guys in MLB have worse numbers than that? Yet the Red Sox Nation sycophants in the media will, with a straight face, include Ellsbury in the Rookie of the Year discussion.

Personally I think it is bush league to be always bumping threads using 20/20 hindsight after a player or team struggles months or years later after a threads discusses the team or player.

I talked about JD Drew coming around for Boston last September, I don't see anyone bumping that thread. I propped The New York Giants, HC Tom Caughlin and Eli Manning his rookie year but same thing, even though he won a super bowl.

example:

I will say it for the third, and last time, like he has done everywhere he has been, Tom Caughlin will win with the Giants. Do I expect playoffs this year, no, do I expect them to win 6 games - sure. Anything is possible in the NFL these days (Panthers for example).

Dante sorry to say if not the Giants then somewhere else. Plaxico is done in Steeltown. The Giants would be fools not to take a shot at grabbing him to enhance the chances of their monster investment Eli Manning have success as soon as possible. Plaxico will make a nice target for Eli and the Giants are a perfect spot for the big reciever. IMHO Buress is much better than team morale wrecker T.Owens. This deal could go a long way to narrow the gap between the fading Eagles and the new look N.Y. Giants.

Wil, I agree. 5Team is very notorious for this. I guess it goes with the territory. 5Team is a decent guy he just is ridiculous doing this.

Bossman we agreed. Nobody will mention Ellsbury for Rookie of the year at this point. Get real.

Ellsbury is finally getting warm. Sox need him badly to get going. He will be huge if he has a great last two months but it will hurt if he stays ice cold. This kid can play. Big HR and SB's the last few games.

boston cf jacoby ellsbury played his 179th straight regular-season game without an error, breaking mike greenwell's franchise record for outfielders.

- J. Ellsbury homered to deep right
#6. On the year, solid...
he's something else. The excitement of having this guy join the team was one thing
and then to see him perform at the level he does is good stuff

Ellsbury is hitting .340 with 60 RBIs in the last 90 games and has 10 home runs in the last month. Until yesterday, Ellsbury had never driven in more than three runs in a game. The six RBIs he drove in during the Red Sox 10-4 defeat of C.C. Sabathia and the Yankees were the most for a Red Sox player this season.

John Lackey (10-8) easily outpitched Sabathia, allowing three runs on five hits over six innings. Lackey’s big moment came in the fifth inning when, with two runners on, he struck out Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira to end the inning.
