Floridians didn’t waste any time getting back to the sun and surf when beaches and parks were reopened in Jacksonville — the same day the state clocked a record number of coronavirus cases.

Crowds were seen cheering and rushing the beach as police removed the barriers around 5 p.m. Friday, CNN reported.

Aerial photos show hundreds of people packing the sand to swim, stroll, surf and fish. Many were without masks.

“We all live on it, so it has been torture looking at it and not being able to be out here,” one beachgoer told CNN.

Jacksonville opened beaches from 6-11 a.m. and 5-8 p.m. daily, with some restrictions including no sunbathing or lounging in chairs or on blankets.

“This can be the beginning of the pathway back to normal life,” Mayor Lenny Curry reportedly said.

Curry made the call after Gov. Ron DeSantis gave the green light for some municipalities to begin reopening beaches.

Police were seen warning people who didn’t adhere to the no-sunbathing rule, according to photos posted to social media, while a flyover sign warned people: “Do your part. Stay 6 feet apart. Help keep beaches open.”

Florida announced 1,400 new cases Friday, the highest 24-hour toll since the pandemic began.

Has there been any reports about massive new coronavirus cases emerging because of the spring break beach parties?

I remember those being the talk of the left side of town a few weeks ago, but haven't heard anything since

In the meantime, poorer urban areas and less healthy demographics have suffered immensely, presumably none of whom were on spring break in Florida

So I'm asking a question for which I don't know the answer (very rare, I know), has there been any reports of many of those kids falling ill?

I haven't been able to find any stories of any of those spring break kids going back home & giving the virus to family members, or the kids being sick.

There was a story or two about the kids partying & denying there was a virus problem a month ago, but nothing about anyone coming down with the virus.

If anyone has any links, please post about those spring breakers.

Heard this story a couple days ago...

Know of somebody who just told me a terrible story about somebody they know who is a nurse and dropped dead from Covid yesterday at work. Had no idea that she had it. In fact on Monday she was telling everybody in the family to be sure they wore masks and gloves. In Florida, on the job. Never had any health problems. Didn’t feel sick. Just dropped dead. Tested positive for Covid-19.

If people can just drop dead from this without knowing....is it really safe to be taking about opening up shit? I know they are...but this type of stuff will continue unfortunately

Miami Herald reporting that Gov DeSantis has specifically impeded accurate reporting of COVID deaths in Florida nursing homes, now estimated at approx 700

Probably just a liberal media conspiracy to thwart Tiny2020 election

For someone who loves to throw the word "anecdotal" around with regard to early treatment results, you don't seem to understand what it means.

You posted this story in another thread already. Since you posted it the first time, 13 people in the US have slipped in their showers and died. I am awaiting the sweeping anti-slip tub legislation.

Every so often you read about an athlete dropping dead at practice or while working out. If people continue to drop dead from this exercise thing with zero warning...is it really safe to be exercising? Otherwise this type of stuff will continue unfortunately.

I think it’s just for exercising and only not open from noon to 8pm or something like that.

my friend was there this morning and I sent him a message what the scene was like and he hasn’t gotten back to me yet

This is from a pandemic that has killed close to 40 thousand people in the United States in under 40 days. Not anything else.

Are you still have trouble understanding the severity of this thing? Wow

Let’s see if the slipping in the shower trend continues. Maybe it will catch up to corona in like 700 years

At least you didn’t call me a liar. Thank you for that. True stories and you think that’s just a rare case? This is happening a lot. Some people with mild symptoms and being found lifeless

They'll regret it when they're in the ICU needing ventilators to keep them alive.

If slipping in the shower was contagious and the death rate kept climbing daily, I would support anti-slip tub legislation. Then Trump would have millions of bath mats in federal storage and would refuse to share, claiming bath mats are "ours"

I heard a story that there was this kid a couple towns over from here that ate some pop rocks
and then drank a pepsi and his stomach exploded.

Does my factual story not align with your false narrative that this is nothing?

I heard another story about this young couple that drove out to a secluded place where they
like to park and make out. It was about midnight and they heard a scratching noise on the door.
The guy and girl freak out and speed off. When they got home they found a mans hook hand on
the car door handle.
