Mike Zimmer should be renamed Mike DIMMER. First, he PASSES on 3rd down at his own 31 instead of RUNNING and making the Lions use their FINAL time out, and possibly having a shorter FG that ices the game for all practical purposes. No - he passes - incomplete - gift wraps a time out for the Lions - and they miss the FG. Then after the Lions cut it to 7, and after the Lions have NO time outs left and inside the 2 minute warning, Mattison is FIGHTING for extra yards, fumbles, and gives the Lions the ball who score a TD and get a 2 pt conversion, and go ahead. Lucky for him, he played the Lions - who instantly gave up enough yards for the Vikings to kick the game winning FG. Had they lost, I think Zimmer is immediately dismissed. But he got to play the team that saves coaches their jobs. At least for awhile. Last week it was Matt Nagy. This week, Zimmer got to play Detroit. I'm betting Urban Meyer wishes the Lions were on his schedule for next week. Now over-rated Green Bay will likely win the division, get a cushy playoff spot, and maybe a home playoff game in January if they're lucky. Ugh - life in the NFC North.
Why, when you have a QB in Cousins who feasts on the Lions to the tune of 16 TDs vs 1 INT, do you run MATTISON 25 times? Especially when the Lions secondary is banged up and they are starting a rookie back there? I don't agree with the game plan, or the end game strategy. Mike Zimmer is lucky he won this game today. But he can't play the Lions every week. They outclassed the Lions at EVERY position today. Every single one. Vikings would be better off having Lilly from ATT coach the team.
