My late dad was a special cop, as a spare job throughout the 70's. Worked at the stadiums and MSG. He was working the night Ivan was to beat Bruno for the title in 1971. This was a big deal. Bruno was a hero in NYC. He called me from there and told me it was going down, and that they hired lots of extra cops that night because they feared a riot. I called all my fellow wrestling fan friends from school and guaranteed Bruno was losing that night. There was no indication this was gonna happen, following the weekly TV shows. It wasn't like today, where you can get a reasonably good feel for when the title is gonna change. Ivan was just gonna be another unsuccessful challenge to Bruno, as he had been many times. None of them believed me. I didn't tell them how I knew, just that I knew. RIP Uncle Ivan.
