thanks Jack O'

WANDER Franco on base streak now at 32

He has struck out TWICE in past 72 PA

That of.course is so ridiculous that we are compelled to note it as equiv to coming to the plate 660 times in one season and only fanning 18 times

Wander Franco wRC+ in 2nd half so far? 144
That ties him with Jose Ramirez, Avisail Garcia, and Matt Olson, while putting him ahead of Giancarlo Stanton, Kris Bryant, Freddie Freeman and Willy Adames who all sit at 142 wRC+.
"Not bad" for a 20 yr old....

Ray’s/Dodgers World Series again lol. Like when the Buffalo Bills won their third straight AFC championship game and a guy in the crowd had a sign “Deal with it America”.

Heading into today’s game, #Rays SS Wander Franco had a 13.9 K% and 122 wRC+ in 245 PA.

Players with a lower strikeout rate and higher wRC+ than Franco in 245+ PA this season:

Michael Brantley (10.5 K%, 130 wRC+)
Yuli Gurriel (11.2 K%, 136 wRC+)
Jose Ramirez (13.8 K%, 136 wRC+)

Rays rookie sensation Wander Franco walked in the seventh inning Tuesday against the Red Sox, extending his on-base streak to 37 in a row. Sure, long ago it was decreed that a hitting streak was a lot more sexy because walks have been disrespected in baseball for years, but getting on baseball every game is pretty damn impressive.
Prior to Monday, Franco was hitting .336/.399/.552 with 13 doubles, three triples, four homers, 26 RBI and 36 runs during his 36-game on-base streak. The last time he failed to reach base was July 24, when he went 0 for 5.
There's some history here with elite company. Consider that Franco -- baseball's top prospect entering the season -- is 20 years old right now. The leaderboard of on-base streaks for players age 20 or younger is as follows:

 1. Frank Robinson: 43 games in 1956
 2. Wander Franco: 37 games (and counting) in 2021
 3. Mickey Mantle: 36 games in 1950-51

Franco’s knock off Detroit starter Tyler Alexander rocketed up the middle at 107.5 mph and extended the 20-year-old’s on-base streak to 39 games. He’s just four games shy of Hall of Famer Frank Robinson -- who holds the record for the longest streak by a player age 20 or younger in American League or National League history -- and ranks third on the franchise list overall.

I like Wander, extremely talented, the real deal. He'll be wearing pinstripes, Dodger blue, Angel colors, Sox red or Cardinal red in a few years after you can't pony up the current market price unless the franchise is located in Montreal or Vegas.

Not an unlikely outcome for him as of the year 2028

Rays have him controlled thru 2027 so between now and probably 2025 he will receive repeated offers to extend beyond that year

If he accepts an Acuna-like deal (8figure signing bonus, $120m for 8 yrs that caps around $20m in final two years he will remain a Ray

If he insists on receiving a Tatis-type deal of $300m+ he will be used thru 2025, 2026 and traded for multiple legit MLers in same manner they traded Snell.

And the model will continue to rock along as during the next five years the MiLsystem will produce 10 to 15 fully ready players to replace Franco with one or more being on his level of talent

I am so lucky...literally....that this org is so smartly constructed

Were I still affixed to my hometown team of 25 years, the Texas Rangers, I would still be a fan of The Great Game but waiting andwaiting and waiting for a few contending years to emerge

He played great and is an awesome player.

Rays just choked like they usually do, nothing new there.
