X,

So we leave and they leave us alone? Now that's pie in the fukkin sky. Why are they attacking other countries?

The reasons differ from country to country.

Despite Putin's 'war on terror' rhetoric, the Chechen rebels are engaged in a civil war. They just happen to be Muslim and use the same type of tactics, so they get lumped into the same thing. They are closer to the FLQ in Quebec in the '70s and the IRA than they are AQ.

Most of the AQ-types are aiming for the return of the Caliphate. US presence is in the way of that. This area covers the MidEast and parts of southern Europe, such as southern Spain. It also covers a few nations in the north of Africa, such as Egypt. Really, this agenda isn't much different than the Israelis forcefully trying to reclaim their territory. Same shît, different group.

The US is not part of the Caliphate. It could leave the ME and more than likely be immune to attacks. Russia stopped being attacked after they left Afghanistan (see paragraph 1 before you say what I know you're going to say.)

I do believe that if the US left the ME altogether that it would have a greater chance of achieving security than it does by mucking around there. But, unfortunately, ain't nobody gonna get rich by staying out. Your economy (and my own, of course) is too dependent on cheap oil and we're not prepared to sacrifice our lifestyle to save lives in the ME. That is our shame.

Just like everyone else in the world. You make it sound like the other 6 billion people are glued to their sets watching BBC world news broadcasts all day. The majority of people in the world have never even used a telephone. I don't think they're catching up on world events either. Americans are among the most informed people in the world, as a whole.

True though that may be, I think its positively astounding that fear of gay marriage was more important to Bush supporters than a war currently underway in Iraq. It's as though they know nothing of what is going on there.

I think that speaks volumes about the so-called moral majority and their worldview.

Guys:

I do not claim to have the answers in the Middle East ... does anyone??

Not when ya have the Jews / Arabs involved ...

Hey, I also WAS NOT IN LOVE W/Kerry and I do wish Bush all the best .. time to put that stuff in the past and move forward

I agree w/Pat Buchanon .. bring out troops home right now and spend the money on securing our borders

Bottom line: get ready to hunker down as the next few years are gonna be nasty

I am beginning to hate the US, absolutely. My anti-Americanism is shifting rapidly from an anti-Bush stance to an anti-citizen stance, after Tuesday's overwhelming display of selfish arrogance and stupidity.

This is not without reason, however. I'm not bigotted so easily. And my ongoing message board interactions keeps my general faith in Americans alive. But people with worldviews like your own, people who get a thrill out of the death of others, people who think it's perfectly acceptable to discuss nuking your allies, these people don't deserve my respect. And the thing is, I can point to more Americans than any other Western nation who feel that way.

However, my country is so tied to yours that until and unless this changes, I don't want to see your country fail. The dramatic drop in the dollar is worrying me tremendously, as we are an export market. It's not that I care much about the American standard of living per se, but a total economic collapse will affect all of us. This is upsetting.

Arafat is probaly dead and on a ventilator at the moment.

Various people will be scrabbling around trying to sort things out before the machine is switched off and the official announcement made.

sheesh.

They're traitors! They're traitors!

The sort of breathless pissant response you would get from an Iranian Mullah or a Nazi geek.

Demonify anyone who is not a party sheep.

Traitors! Traitors! Burn them at the stake!

I was amazed to learn Bush did not lose any of the gay vote he had in 2000. Most gays are not activist, they don't care about forcing gay marriage onto others. They just want to be left alone, Bush is not suggesting we kick their doors in and stop their sessions. Americans just don't want it forced upon us by making it equal to traditional marriage when it's not. Harry and Larry in a dress is not traditional marriage.

X...I am telling you again. You do not by pass the electorate with no debate and no process and have 4 liberal activast judges force law by making alterations of the definition of marriage without reprecutions!!!

Why do you think it made it to so many referendums around the country???

I don't think the backlash was directed at the judges as much as it was the idea of gay marriage itself. Besides, seems to me this 'activist judges' rhetoric could, and should, be as easily applied to 'constitutional amendment' talk, too. Shouldn't it???

Face it, the problem is gays marrying, not how it becomes legal.

If that is true it will have to wait its time. And admittley it is true (not with me) I really don't give a fxck.Acceptence of gays and the decrease of homophobia has decreased over time. But if people feel that way against it.THAT IS THEIR RIGHT, and they should have a chance to voice their opnion on legistlation to law.
But it never should be forced down peoples throat with politcal stacking of the deck by politicians to get the right judges to change law on a whim.

Boy, am I going to wave this quote in your face when the SCOTUS is stacked and taking away civil liberties!! I just cannot believe you wrote that down!!

These same fücknuts who thing Benny Hinn will cure their kidney disease kept the coming SC appointments very much in mind when voting. They know Bush can reverse MANY judicial rights in their favour.

Come on, dude! That's the lamest argument you've thrown out yet!

I totally disagree ...

I have yet to talk to a Bushie that can give me a concrete answer as to why they voted for him ... this "he is such a great man" OR "Bush stands for morals" does not fly

This country is bankrupt and Bush is like a drunken woman with a cc in a dept store .. he got us into a war even his old man is against ... Rove sold the election on Fear and "Morals" (which makes me laugh considering Rove) ....

She answers with ideas .. unlike the Bushies whose answer is to "bomb, bomb, bomb"

I have plenty of solutions. The first one involves a game of Russian roulette between Cheney and Bush. The second involves me moving to New Zealand just in case the first one doesn't present a clear loser.

And you're being completely disingenuous. I have offered many solutions in my protests. You're also typical of a rightwinger: no credible, intelligent discussion, just flame the poster.

Doc,

When OBL dropped a vidoe tape on America that told Americans all we needed to know about how Bush is doing and that's a damn good job. Like I said America wold vote for the guy that would drop the most bombs, not the guy that would retreat. Get on with the bombs and bring our boys home.
