Id rather be a Braves fan with 1 ring, than a Marlins fan with 2 rings. Winning 14 straight division titles means that every single year im pulling for a team that plays important games in September. No other fan of any other team in any sport can say that.

Chop,
you are really saying you would rather have 1 WS ring than 2.

I didn't say they weren't successful, just said the annual choking would piss me off. Sports is all about winning in the postseason, even baseball.

Bottemline.

There are only 2 teams in the last 15 years that have won more WS than the Braves. Those are the only 2 teams that can even say have been more succesful than Atlanta.

If you say the Braves choke when they lose in the playoffs, I can turn that around by saying the D-Backs or any other team choked by not even making the playoffs.

No way that's a typo. When you type bottom, your fingers are nowhere close to the "e" key. This is very revealing.

People seem to forget 1994 where the Montreal Expos were in control of that division til MLB decide to strike the final nail in the Expos coffin. So that 15 straight years of winning the division deserve an * in my opinion. If it wasn't for that strike this agruement wouldn't be taking place. Saying the Braves are a dynasty is like saying the Buffalo Bills were a dynasty. Great teams yes that deserve to be respected but not a dynasty.

Im a pretty decent speller Bud. But I get in a real hurry when posting at this site and my spelling and grammar suffers from that.

Thats the bottom line.

You really like me dont you BUDWORTH?

You will never admit it, but you seem to have to have your say about every post I make at this forum.

I'm with Chop on this one. I would love to win the divisonal title every year and have just one ws. What they have done the past decade is more impressive than anyone else in baseball, except the Yankees. You can have your Marlins, heck alot of the baseball playoffs are luck anyways. Give me the grind of the 162 game season where true numbers play out and that is more impressive. Imagine going into EVERY baseball season and having a fantastic summer.

Put this on the stage of gambling comparision. My grandma can beat any pro gambler in a best of 7. But make 162 selections and her chances decrease alot.

Always pull for the Braves when they make the playoffs and still are written off...but Braves fans overall are shitty, if the reports are true that they don't even sell out their playoff games. Pathetic.

Braves don't have the pitching to win this year, bottom line. Their #1 is aging and hasn't looked quite as sharp, their #2 is making too many mistakes in big situations. Bullpen is shaky at best right now, signs of life recently, sure why not, but not playoff-caliber by any means.

sure, we'll all "know more in a couple weeks chop." more games will have been played. don't think they can be saved this year though.

Great point. Expos got robbed that year...that had all the makings of a special team. Team went into disarray after that.

As for the fan debate, I'd actually rather be competitive like the Braves than win one championship and then be horrible for years...simply because of one reason: hope. No Braves fan KNOWS that they're going to choke in October(as inevitable at it seems). They always have hope that they'll win it all. And there's also nothing more exciting than having your team play meaningful games late in the season and into the playoffs, no matter what the sport.

and that my friend is what it is all about, hope. I am a former Detroit Lions season ticket holder and every year our Super Bowl party is held in late April (draft day). I miss hope:cryingcry

Dynasty? What dynasty? The Braves streak isn't all that impressive when you consider with the 14 division titles come 14 playoff appearances and they've won one World Series.

Over that 14 years the division they played in wasn't very good and they just outspent those mediocre teams and over 162 games they were able to come out on top. As soon as they got to the playoffs and had to play good teams, they did their laundry. Their so called stars didn't come through when it counted and Bobby Cox was badly outmanaged on countless occasions. I think Bobby Cox is one of the worst in game managers I have ever seen.

The Braves streak is the single most unimpressive streak in the history of sports.

.......and not it add insult to injury, but keep in mind also the ONE WS championship occurred in a season that only produced 148 regular season games......which equates to it having one small * next to it.

Certainly not a qualification for a so called "Dynasty".

Very tough to call Atlanta a dynasty in my opinion:

6 out of 14 years, out in the 1st round. 1998 they were pretty much dominated by San Diego, who they were 8 games better than in the regular season. 1997, buzzsawed by the Marlins, who they were 9 games better than. In the 1996 and 1999 World Series, they were beaten by the Yanks, and the Braves had better records both years.

So, out of 14 years, they had one year where they won it all, 4 years where they were beaten by someone equal to them or slightly better than them, and had 9 years that they lost to teams they arguably could have beaten.

This is a great argument, and fans and non-fans of the Braves will have differing views....but my opinion is that a dynasty would have taken care of business a lot more often in the playoffs. Good team, yes, dynasty...no.

ONLY 5 1/2 games out, with a lot of teams to pass and no shot at the division.
