i just find it hard to believe. too many people would have to be in on it and makes no sense because the players are the highest paid in any sport. even the refs are making mid 6 figures. sure you have some crazies like donaghy, but they got caught, that didn't stay hidden. i just find it hard to believe. maybe in college sports there'd be a better argument for it.

say the lakers are up 10. no time left on the clock. kobe at the line. spread is 11. kobe makes one, its at 11. what does kobe gain from making or missing the free throw to win or lose the spread. no amount of money offered to him is going to touch what he makes, and if people found out somehow he intentionally missed it, then he knows it would come back on him. just see no reason imo.

Your argument would make sense, but how do you explain Wall Street. Those crooks are making money hand over fist and stealing from every Tom, Dick and harry

I don't believe the games are fixed for pointspreads. I am talking about Ewing going to the NY Knicks. Lebron to Cleveland (Why Cleveland and not NYC, because the Cavs would have folded and the NBA would have looked terrible having Charlotte lose a franchise and then another city lose a franchise).

San Antonio has been so good that, it has been difficult to keep them out. You don't think the LAL get the benefit of every call. Did you think the NBA would allow Memphis to have 1st pick and send Derrick Rose there, instead of Chicago.

I don't believe the games are fixed for bettors, but sometimes it obvious when the home team is getting certain calls.

The other question is why does this question constantly come up in the NBA and not the NFL, NHL, MLB. Again, i am not talking about sports betting perspective.

it doesnt come up constantly. you find 100 nba threads, 1 fixed thread will come up from somebody who doesnt like the league. the donaghy thing was a big thing for awhile but nobody talks about that now. the people who think its fixed are the people who want to believe it is fixed since they dont like the nba to begin with. they search out for it more, so they find it more.

you find 100 nba topics right now though, unless your on a gambling forum and are a kid whos mad that lost his bet, you won't see threads about fixing.

Go to youtube and look up the 1985 NBA draft lottery, there are 1000's of responses saying the draft was fixed.

I hate to think games are fixed, but why do people find it hard to believe?

Corruption is found in every single industry, so why would sports and gambling, which go hand in hand be exempt.

Drugs have proven to a problem in sports, Steroids, Weed.

We have seen refs, players involved in point shaving/fixing. The NBA is a for profit organization who has created rules to make the game more entertaining, in order to garner higher ratings and greater ad revenue.

Why do you think teams are allowed to advance the ball from their own basket to the other 3 point line.

Who's to say these NBA players wouldn't like some extra money? 50 k or 100 k is not chump change.. and you can never have enough money. No matter how much you have, more is better. Say the Celtics are a - 14 point favorite to Memphis at home. Pierce,KG, Allen all talk it out.. they throw 50 k each on Memphis + 14. They can just have an "off night" and still win this game by 8 points and each just paid for all their christmas presents. @):) You really don't think this is a possibility for some players? You're gullible then.. it's called greed.

No question some refs are being told to favor certain teams in the playoffs, it has been proved over and over again.
