for what hes accomplished, i think it fair to say he could certainly be in the conversation. he is no different than troy smith. imo, troy smith is the greatest quarterback in ohio state football history. but that didnt guarantee success in the nfl. will he play on the next level? very doubtful. actually almost certainly not. but he deserves every bit of praise that comes his way for what he has done at florida. he doesnt fit the mold of a quarterback. but he is a leader and a winner. there are probably 20-30 better 'quarterbacks' in college football this year alone. but im not sure there is a better 'player' at the position, if that makes sense.

troy f*ckin smith? are you kidding me?

Sam Bradford>Tim Tebow

Bradford will make a better pro QB than Tebow, but Bradford does what he does against arguably the worst defenses of any conference. Every QB that plays in the Big 12, from Bradford, McCoy, Reisling, Daniel, Robinson, Harrell, they all fuckin light it up and look like Heisman winners. The defenses are dog shit. DOGSHIT.

It's a joke.

what are you taking issue with? that smith is the best qb in osu history? im making the point that 10-20 years from now, troy smith and tim tebow will be forgotten names but deserve to be remembered as two of the best college quarterbacks of the 2000-2010 era of ncaa ball. its a compliment.

troy smith will be forgotten like charlie ward

tim tebow will not.

bank on it.

by the way im drunk and mean no disrepsect. youre still one of my top 3 favorite posters on this site.

i just completely disagree. tebow is a modern day legend. smith is a fuckin dime a dozen, neever won a national title, and as proven recently, was playing in an overrated big ten conference pumped by the biased media like espn looking for ratings from the most followed conference in football.

no disrespect taken. the respect is mutual, primarily because there is a ton of of shit we see completely eye to eye on ... but theres also enough where we taking opposing stances. no big deal. my main point is that im not sure if people 10-20 yrs ago will be able to appreciate what tebow meant to florida during this run. guys like harvin will be the names people remember because of the nfl. but it doesnt have to be that way and hopefully wont be.

What don't you like about his personality?

Too goody-goody.
Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have that eight days a week than say some ghetto hood, but to me he's to sugary, if that makes sense.

He's just Mr. Nice Guy off the field. But when he's on the field he's a fierce competitor. People have been trying to dig up shit on him for a while now. I saw him walking around campus and he greeted absolutely everyone he walked past in a very polite way, very down to earth guy. But I understand what you say...

the negativity on Tebow is amazing. This guy has done as much for his team, as anybody in the recent history of this game. While he does not resemble Elway or Marino, he produces just as much. People judge him on pretty rather than on effectiveness. He will be outstanding in the NFL. Think Big Ben, but better!

troy smith played in a cupcake conference...

also how did what this guy is going to do as a pro enter into the conversation.

i agree with box, top 5. he is the best player on the best team in the best conference and he just beat bama by 11 without his number one weapon.

maybe it will be that way. maybe it wont. fans are fickle. media is much the same way for better or worse. doesnt help tebow that his game is very unorthodox. he will go down as one of the best players in gators history. but to the average fan 20-25 years from now, he will probably be the answer to a lot of trivia questions outside of gainesville. guys like harvin can put signature plays and moments on a highlight reel. with tebow, its more of an appreciation for his entire body of work and what a competitor he is and what a winner he was. hell, he's already a bit underappreciated NOW.

Are you joking? The problem is guys tend to focus on the play in front of their face at the time. Is Tebow a better college player than:

Herschel Walker
Bo Jackson
Barry Sanders
Archie Griffin (2 Heisman trophies)
Earl Campbell
Tony Dorsett
Reggie Bush
Marshall Faulk

Now, with the exception of Bush these guys didn't even come close to the talent Tebow has around him. Tebow isn't even a better QB than Bradford and McCoy. He is a better football player but not QB.
