Again the issue at hand is not his resume. His resume is one of the best. But when you don't get the job done questions are raised. Look at Mike Shanahan, similar situation. Great coach who had a great resume but did not get it done and was canned

Being from Ohio and having friends from college that work for the atheltic department they say there is no way he will get fired before 2012 if he even gets fired at all. The contract he currently has ensures a faculty position at Ohio State upon his retirement. Do any of you remember just last year at this time athletic director gene smith offered a lifetime contract to coach at OSU until his retirement but Tressel turned it down. What they told me is what the boosters and other "important" people in the football department want to change is that Tressel gives up the play calling to Jim Bollman or next year bring in an OC that will open up the offensive playbook more.

He needs to get out of the Stone Age.

The game has changed. Offenses are more sophisticated and appear to be scoring more.

What sums up the difference between Carroll and Tressel was each coach's decision on 4th and 1 and the 1.

Tressel is a good coach for winning regular season games against inferior opponents like MAC teams and other weak Big 10 teams but when it comes to the big games he is not the right man for the job. The guy is simply living off his past glory. Ohio State is supposed to be a premier CFB program and he isn't the right guy to be leading it.

One of his biggest problems is his stubborn desire to be conservative and this mantra he maintains about not running the score up on his opponents is bullshit. When you have a roster full of great athletes, as OSU often does, you have to treat them like thoroughbreds. You have to let these guys go out there and fulfill their potential to the max. Because Tressel doesn't want to run up the score on his opponents he is constantly putting the brakes on his players when he has a comfortable lead which he shouldn't do. You need to let them go fully which in turn will boost their confidence. When a horse is winning a race the jockey doesnt start slowing the horse down just because he is going to win. That might be a bad analogy but the same principal applies. Quit slowing your players down and let them run free and by that I mean let them play at 100% effort the entire game no matter how much you are leading the game by. Keep trying to score and let your players show what they are really made of.

Let's put it this way.....Tressell is being watched extremely closely throughout the rest of this season. If something should happen, and Ohio State lose a game prior to Michigan, then fall to Michigan, Tressell is out of work in Columbus. They feel there is zero excuse for what happened to last year's team, and for Pryor to not be devoloping quicker, to these guys, is unacceptable.[/quote]

He is indeed being watched closely...but the people doing the "watching" don't have as much "say" in the matter as they might think...they will lose to Penn St...they won't lose to Michigan...they'll go 10-2 and probably play in the Sugar or Fiesta bowl...

They'll be fine...

You guys keep your hands off of Wittingham at Utah. He'd convert OSU into SEC beaters within a year.

Are you fucking kidding me? Wittingham is an overrated piece of shit, who hasn't recruited east of the MS in life.

Are you the new Railbird?

Anyone west of Colorado is a world beater and everyone else sucks.

Ohio St is one of the top 2 or 3 jobs in the country...there would only be 2-3 candidates even considered for this job...

I am getting way ahead of myself...but I can see the list beginning and ending with Urban Meyer...Bob Stoops....and...?

both are Ohio guys...
