After countless big game losses the Buckeyes coach is taking some heat for the latest one against USC. I know he powerhouses the Big 10 but is this enough anymore?

who would you replace him with? It better be someone near Urban Meyer level because Tressels don't grow on trees

No, I agree with you, I do not believe he should be on the hot seat after all he has done for them. But there is definitly talk up there in Columbus.

If he is, it's only from the fanbase who have no bearing on whether he gets fired. His job is safe.

No.

But if they can lure Kelly from Cincinnati, then they might be on to something. Otherwise stick with Jim go 10-2. Get to a BCS game and enjoy losing it.

That plan seems to be working for Oklahoma... :)

Tressel has a title as does Stoops. Tressel beats Michigan which is why they fired Cooper (he couldn't beat Michigan)
Both of them should be very secure for at least 5 more years minimum.

The guy has gone 10-3, 11-2, 12-1, 10-2 with a BCS win and two title game berths in his last four years along with winning it in 2002. You don't get fired for that anywhere. They only time something even remotely similar happened was when Nebraska went 8-3 and Caughlin (sp) was fired. The difference there is they went 7-7 the year before and wanted a new system.

His job is safe no matter what the boosters say.

I agree, I think he is safe for the time being, but if he keeps losing at this rate to the big teams i cant see it going for more then 3 more yrs

Being from Columbus there is talk, but it is from frustrated fans, which is understandable. Tress has beaten Michigan more than Cooper did and everyone loves him for that, which is why he would not get replaced.

I started a thread about this on Sat night right after the game and I agree he needs to make some changes by hiring an offensive cordinator to call the plays and to his entire staff but he is a stubborn man. Also would love to see Brian Kelly with his offensive mind and the recruits he could get to come to Columbus wow.Urban Meyer would be another fine choice but I cannot see him leaving Florida anytime soon.

You guys keep your hands off of Wittingham at Utah. He'd convert OSU into SEC beaters within a year.

As a Michigan fan I say Yes, he's horrible...what a no talent ass-clown. Please fire him NOW!! In fact please call Cooper & bring him back.
I have a buddy & his family that are all OSU fans and they constantly bitch about Tressel & while he needs to loosen up the play calling more (esp in big games) but it's the same shit that Lloyd Carr had to endure. Hopefully soon enough they'll force Tressel out like they did Lloyd.

RichRod doing some things now & ~80% of MI is Fr & So but I'm on record as wanting Kelly. Being on the west side of the state I knew about him back with Grand Valley & the crazy run he had with them. The guy gets it done with whatever talent he has whether it's his own or guys he inherits.

The only guy that could or would replace Tress is Urban Meyer....he has a clause in his contract stating such...

Meyer's contract allows him to leave Florida with little or no buyout for any one of 3 schools....Notre Dame (he had a chance to go to but didn't), Michigan (see ND) and Ohio St. Meyer is from Ashtabula (Ohio). I think ultimately Meyer replaces Tressel, but only after Tressel either takes over as AD, or retires....but not in the immediate future...

You heard it here first.

As for Brian Kelly....when Charlie Weiss completes is total bust at ND....I can see Kelly ending up in South Bend...

You heard THAT here first as well...

Next year Ohio St will return 20 starters....(Cordle, Worthington, Ballard & Spitler are ALL seniors who are either splitting time with an under classmen (Shugarts, Heyward/Simon/Goebel, Stonebrunner & Sabno) or are going to be easily replacable. The only true starter to replace next year is Coleman (FS/SS). Ohio St plays Miami Florida in place of USC in the horseshoe. Next year they will make a run.

I am a HUGE Weis supporter, but if Weis gets fired, and Kelly's team looks really good, and wins the Big East, then I may be in favor for him. I just want to see what he continues to build at Cincinnati.

I have a best friend whose father played under Woody Hayes. His dad now runs an extremely successfull business in Columbus and is as tight with the Buckeye Brass as you can get.

Let's put it this way.....Tressell is being watched extremely closely throughout the rest of this season. If something should happen, and Ohio State lose a game prior to Michigan, then fall to Michigan, Tressell is out of work in Columbus. They feel there is zero excuse for what happened to last year's team, and for Pryor to not be devoloping quicker, to these guys, is unacceptable.
