Is Greek A Scared Book??????

I have to say that IMHO, Olympic is top notch. Yeah, there are things about the Greek that I don't fancy like their 20 cent bases their ridiculous prices on soccer totals and 30 cent lines on props, but they're a book that books. They offer the sports bettor with serious (maybe pricey but still good odds) on everything and in my book, that makes a good bookmaker. They have been around for a long time and are still in business; that is no insurance but is very nice to know. In my opinion they are a GREAT shop and I respect their opinions very much. Are they sacred?! Who is in this business??!!

ActuallY I m starting to believe that they are becoming more and more selective.

The 20cent lines at MLB is like saying:go play elsewhere boys,we accept suckers only.

Same applies for soccer totals.

European Basketball,I was using a crystal ball to figure if and when I ll would be able to bet.

Tennis,if I take railbird's word,it seems that offering lines for tennis is not something they feel they have to do on time.

Maybe in 2004 Olympics wil be offering only NFL with 30 cent lines!I hope not.

for what it's worth IMO their tennis strategy is pretty shrewd.

They post up pretty late but often offer VERY opinionated lines. There is often value in simply backing the sides Olympic do not seem to want much action on.

They seem to have a good source of info. on potential injury situations as well.

Probably the toughest book to beat on tennis.

SPIRO himself answered these same questions right here on this forum a year or so ago. he said he had lost 850,000.00 to baseball bettors in the preceding 2 weeks. he's not losing that kind of money to rookies. when your betting the winner your not worried about the vig, you want to get paid. therefore WISEGUYS (true wiseguys) play at olympic. also a TRUE wiseguy would NEVER play a prop without inside info of some sort that points to a cover of the prop. AGAIN THEIR PRIORITY WOULD BE TO GET PAID NOT SHOP FOR A LOW VIG....

It is getting old to have people criticise one of the best sports books in our industry...

Olympic is the leader in so many ways from being the first ones to put up lines, offering more props than virtually anyone else, and they still have one of the highest limits around for wise guys to bet...

Oh, did we forget to mention they pay PROMPTLY, too??!!

Do they have some shortcomings?

Absolutely...

However, so does every other sports book...

Give it a rest, ok?

So what if it's -140/+120 or -110/-110. Fact
is the -140/+120 is actually less vig then the

Let me put it to you this way...

I feel several reasons exist why halftime lines at Olympic can have more "gouging" than others. First off, the guy is the first one to put the line up - sometimes even before the first half is over. And usually a halftime line revolves around a "key number", so they have odds move on it instead of the pointspread.

So if he puts his number up first and gets slammed with bets on one side, sometimes this results in a halftime line of something like "-2 1/2 points at -160", etc. He's just trying to balance the action out and this either attracts bets to the other side or at least just keeps people from betting on the side that's already been hit.

You have to respect that the guy is the first one to give people a shot at the number. If you're too late to get in on it and the odds have moved out of favor, then just bet somewhere else.
