Just for the record cannot see United winning the title this season barring significant improvements to the roster in the transfer window. Team simply isn't strong enough to outlast Chelsea and Arsenal. The strong central defensive pairing of Ferdinand and Vidic is now almost a weakness. Ferdinand seems to be the new Ledley King and Vidic appears to be waiting for his move to Barcelona. They have no right back, midfield as a whole is low on top end players, have no depth up front etc.

solid post, I agree wholeheartedly, Fergie is being stubborn with his "guys" and not making the necessary changes. Having said that while Arsenal may have more players in good form I still see Man U as Chelsea biggest threat. 3 time defending champions demands that type of respect.

Yesterdays game between France and Ireland just confirmed why soccer isn't a hit in America.

I assure you that's not the reason. NFL, NBA, College football, have been fixed before my inception and continue to be, the public or as I like call us "the commoners" rather look the other way than see reality for what it truly is.

So, want to know who the Public Money is REALLY on?

This chart predicts the winner of the English Premier League.

The five teams you see are the current favourites.

The percentage values, calculated from the odds, show how likely the betting public at Betfair thinks it is that any of these five teams will win. If more people bet on a particular team, the odds lessen and the percentage value goes up, as more people think that team will win.

At Betfair, you bet against others not against a Bookmaker. Betfair matches you up anonymously with other fans who have the opposite opinion, holds the money until the result is known and pays the winner. Like ebay, Betfair exists by taking a small commission (from the winner only) for the service that it offers.

Check any Betfair betting market to see the total amount matched. Every single Betfair betting market also shows you how much money was matched (and at what odds) for each possible outcome.

-Easy 4-0 victory for the blues despite not having Drogba, defense is looking sharp and having Joe Cole back has been a dramatic improvement for Chelsea's offense.

-Arsenal losing against a second tier team like Sunderland was the weekends big result. Now we have a nice little gap between The Blues and the gunners entering next weeks fixture.

-Liverpool vs City ended with both teams attaining a single point, I think City is a year away from truly making a run but 3 points at Liverpool could have been a big help for there hopes.

-MAN U still appears to me as Chelsea top contender, we need them to tie or better yet lose at least one of those December away fixtures against inferior foes.

-Tottenham is officially the elephant in the room. Spurs are finally healthy and put together a long overdo magical performance. I've called them Arsenal light all season, they showed glimpses here and there but today was simply breathe taking (even if it was Wigan).

-Chelsea topping Arsenal was nice, what I really enjoy watching was how Arsenal is struggling without Van Persie and the underrated Diaby. From what I read the Dutch striker is now deem out till April so Wenger will scramble for a striker come January. I actually think Bendter is a decent striker though he has problems on the ground with his inability to retain the ball. I think they need an upgrade come January and Diaby at 100% if they want to qualify for the Champions League. Going back to Chelsea there offense seems be blossoming fully now with Ancelotti Italian style tactics being accepted and executed nicely. There defense is strong enough in the middle to hold off most attacks but the key to me is Essien, hes truly a remarkable asset. I think the loss to Blackburn minus most of there key players could be a motivating force in the next few games, this team has bounced back well all year after disappointing showings.

-Manchester United is the only true contender as I've stated for sometime now. They will fight Chelsea all year and its gonna be fun to watch coming down the stretch. I'm sticking to my thoughts that this is Chelsea year. Having said that I know United has all the components to repeat so we need some breaks to create distance.

-City continues to come away with 1 point against inferior competition. This team seems to lack something, unity, creativity, etc. Those are just educated guesses, now I do believe there a dangerous side which can easily can get on a roll, hope it doesn't start this week.

-Tottenham is the dark horse and I'm really glad Chelsea doesn't face them again till April.

Pending play plus new hedge

4* Chelsea to win EPL ($1050 to win $1,000)
.6* Arsenal to win EPL +900 (Bodog)($150 to win $1,350)

Why?

1) Arsenal has an incredibly favorable schedule the rest of the way. They should be favored going into all their games with the exception of a road game against Tottenham. The only two other games which they could face considerable pressure in losing points will be @Birmingham and Manchester City.
2) Chelsea now has to go without Cole the rest of the way, with no late word on Jose Bosingwa status this team will find it even more difficult to create chances. Essien may not be ready for City and this also concerns me.
3) When you have a 3 club race and you're getting 9-1 with a team just 2 games from even I'll take my chances.

Note: I'm aware of the possible injuries of Arshavin/Song, while concerning I still like there schedule for the next 30 days, hope there return will be before April.

Cant be with you on this one. I am a Chelsea fan and they are my pick to win........But.......the Red Devils looming right behind them and also have a great shot to win the EPL, as you metioned.
In fact, they are the only team with a chance to knock them out IMO. I dont see Chelsea as a lock and I hate to lock up my money for over 3 months on an even money future when I can take that money and just flat out play Chelsea in a few regular games.

Good luck though. I'll be cheering for Chelsea.

love: anieve is right its EPL 2009/2010, note its already down to 8/1 at Bodog.

Anieve: thanks

floyd: I completely understand your point of view and naturally the red devils are the team of most concern. Now understand that this is all by design as a future player and as one I'm primarily making my plays based on value and the placement of safety nets. The only net that has yet to be set up is one involving the Man U side but I assure you I'll be there to put one up once a stumble takes place. Good luck with your side wagers, I still feel that I have a bit more to learn in order to make such investments, thank you for taking the time to write.

baccy: Thats really nice of you bud, you should consider accessing FSC (fox sports channel) as they carry IMHO the best EPL coverage of all the western hemisphere (US haha). With 12 games left in the season we need to look closely at the schedules, point gaps, talent, etc. and quite frankly I see this as 3 club race considering all those factors. City for instance is 13 points down and looking at their schedule it might just be the toughest of the top 5. Tottenham will have a hard time getting into the top 4 little less winning it all, this side still has a tendency to underachieve against common or lower tier opponents. Hope I've answered some of your questions my friend, if you have any others feel free to ask. GL

no prayer for either and both will prioritize the FA cup now, at least until they are knocked out, then will concentrate on CL play in spot

36 points up for grabs:

Chelsea: 7 left against bottom half teams, 4 of those at home
United: 7 left against bottom half teams, 3 of those at home
Arsenal: incredibly 9 left against bottom half, 5 at home

for the Gunners to seriously challenge they need a quick CL exit as they don't have the squad depth, especially with current injuries, to compete on both fronts. they clearly have the easiest schedule and will be favored in practically all 12 final matches. They will be big favs to advance to CL quarters which, IMO, will end their EPL title chances no matter how favorable their league schedule is

Chelsea with the toughest schedule because they still have the FA cup and CL to deal with in addition to EPL. In EPL still have trips to United, Spurs, and Liverpool

United look to be headed into CL quarters but have no FA cup match left and just the league cup final on Feb 28...then they can plan for EPL/CL only. They get Spurs, Chelsea, and Liverpool all at home with only a crosstown trip to city against teams in top 9. I'd argue their road game in Everton this week is more difficult than the city game so this could be a pivotal weekend since both Gunners and Blues should both pocket 3 points. If United win at Everton they will be my favorite for the EPL

Great stuff Rolltide, I agree with all your observations. Being a Arsenal fan I know the side well, there literally hanging by a thread with all their injury problems, an exit is ideal. I'm secretly (not so anymore) for a flat Man U performance this weekend, this will enable me to place my last safety net if the price is right naturally.

VOR & RT - thanks for the info guys. We'll see how this goes and hope to make a few bucks at it too.

My boy is an Arsenal fan and can't stand Liverpool, since it seems like ESPN loves to shove Liverpool down our throats as that's the only games we've been getting lately.

Good stuff guys - thanx again.

This should come down to being a two man race between, United and Chelsea. It could very well come down to the game @ United in April. I just can't see the gunners getting back into things and will likely have to settle for 3rd.

Bodog Odds to win EPL at the moment:

Chelsea
5/6
Liverpool
150/1
Manchester City
100/1
Manchester United
5/4

Untied at 5/4 has no value, with Chelsea now 4 points clear I'll just have to hope for a good performance against Man City. I've been weary of City all year, they've already beaten Chelsea and I expect another highly contested match.

after today this is a one team race

only smart move is to pound chelsea at -120 then when the blues play at Old Trafford you bet United and go for a middle. (spoken from a united fan btw)

sir alex is letting his pride get in the way right now. vidic/rio is the best central defense pairing in the world and he is keeping a now healthy vidic on the bench because he's in the doghouse.

city blow...don't worry about them

I wouldn't go so far to say they blow, they've already handled Arsenal and Chelsea. If City can find an 11 they're comfortable with they'll be hard to beat in the next campaign. Its a question of "If money can translate into chemistry".

I still say Arsenal can make a late run, like you said hopefully Porto can knock them out as it would make the job easier.
