My grandfather, a Dutch POW and not that much of a perfectionist would often say this about the Germans.

Talking about the World Cup there is one team that most likely I will bet against every single match: Holland. Their last 3 matches already clearly indicated that they are absolutely completely hopeless.

Anyhow I started gathering as many International matches as possible of the last couple of years. Not all of them were in my database yet. I did a bit of copy and pasting from the internet, imported the stuff into my database and compared it all. I am a perfectionist in this matter! Many, many mistakes on the various sites. Only one got it all right. And guess where the site is located?

I liked the way you introduced your Grandfather at the start to subtlely give more credence to your opinion of Holland.:103631605 Is it too early to start giving ones view on all these teams, maybe posters from their own Countries can give an informed opinion, of course with Ireland out that means Joey Fitzpatrick will only participate as a sponge man of sorts. So we can start with a line through Holland. :drink:

Possibly the funniest post I have read this year.

My paraguay shirt arrived from e bay yesterday, my GF is from Stockholm so I already had the sweden shirt, still working on obtaining a T&T shirt which is proving difficult.

Go Ireland (Euro'98) !

:thumbsup2:

he, he...

Luxembourg? He,he...

I see what you mean acw, and I am looking forward to your opinions on the world cup. I d also love to be in germany, and will probably find some time to go to, but haven't made any arrangements yet, and I better hurry, because I ll probably end up goin and watching some legendary clash of ecuador vs.honduras say...

I also see where you are driving it with the germans, my beloved fades for the europian competitions, BUT, as much as I am siding with your grandad on all these, to witness them actually competing in the field is closer to some shock horror event than football.

Ladbrokes has prices up! If the big books come up with the same, I will be going for it big big time!

Maybe England could call up Shearer. At least, he's younger than Teddy. I would love to see what the English papers are saying about Rooney missing the WC. England fans have to be freaking out. Which is their usual reactions. :nohead:

rooney or no rooney, england are always the biggest fades in world or eupopian footie competitions, despite or maybe because of the media frenzy and all the natiolanistic pride and attention that goes along with them, big time losers imo. Arguably they have a strong team this year, much stronger than previous years, but I dont see anything but another choke job, unless that is, the powers that be have a cinderella england scenario in the making for this world cup, and if this is the case, it will be a whole new ballgame.

You are correct in saying England are the best fades (by far actually) in big competitions but the reason is very simple.

The English are a very proud nation of degenerate gamblers ! That country will bet 10-15m euros on a Chelsea v United game on a Sunday in February so imagine the frenzy of bets going on England in every match they play in. The bookies offer shit prices on England because they know they will bet on their own country regardless of price. There is as you know a direct correlation between the price offered on England (over valued for reasons mentioned above) and their opponents (under valued). Making the fade a good bet regardless of outcome.

X files - I can't even tell you how much I love Serbia & Montenegro not only in this match at this price but for the whole competition. Easily the most under rated team in this competition. They will surprise a lot of people !

Those were the (good) old days! These days the markets are dominated by the Asian bookies and (unfortunately) they do not use these practises.

X-Files,
Damn! Ladbrokes had (may still have) Holland at -3/4. This -1/2 is a move in a more realistic direction. Still I fancy the Serbs! Good old days would have been Holland -1.
