The entire educational system is sub-standard! Here's an example in Costa Rica (a 3rd world country) you have to know more math, science and second language to get their equivalent of a G.E.D. than you do to graduate from high school in the States. Considering that imagine how far behind we must be compared to countries like England and Japan that highly value education. Yes parental influence is very important but it doesn't change the fact that people pay taxes to send their kids to school that provide a sub-standard of education. Think about it, you pay taxes to the most powerful 1st world nation to send your kids to school while kids in 3rd world Costa Rica are getting a better education in math, science, and languages, don't you feel a little robbed???
This...
"If you want to participate in sports rather than learn a second language it actually may be more beneficial. Eat less whoppers, start working out, and start juicing vegetables and you will vastly reduce your chances of expensive medical ailments. It's the host, not the germ. It's all really very simple. Common sense"
...borders on incoherent babble.
The two (sports and languages) are unrelated and time should be made for both. Of course physical activity is important, that goes without saying, that's what P.E. class is for. As far as a standardized educational systems, the difference is that while a second language should be required participating in sports should be optional.
BTW, I don't know why you are calling me a socialist, I'm not and have never said to be one.
