"Kaya, just for kicks, could you explain to me your definition of "closed-minded". "
Maybe some day with more time and interest I'll look some old posts up.
"America-bashing, or Bush bashing,"
I don't bash the states, I at times bash ignorant attitudes of the dumbed-down masses, or things I see I government doing that I disagree with. Yes I bash Bush, but as I've said several times before, I've had a problem with him since he was governor of Texas.
"self-loathing ass feel better"
WTF. Got no idea where you got this.
""Lady", in the other thread tried to express her views comparing Costa Ricans to Americans where arrogance is concerned. You actually tried to debate her on her views of her own culture. Now THATS arrogance!"
I guess you didn't notice that I treated Lady with a lot of respect in answering her for that very reason, it's her country not mine. On the other hand I'm American but have also been in Costa Rica long enough to get confused as a local. That aside from having worked in distinct fields in the country, having attended university here, having worked and socialized with basically all socio-economic levels and being married to a local, yes I feel qualified enough to discuss culture here and that is a matter of experience not arrogance. I was trying to gently hit on the point that Costa Rican nationalism doesn't come close to American nationalism as far as righteousness, and as a matter of fact, that's a compliment.
