Yes. I've done it several times on serious cases, where the person was clearly getting screwed.

if I told you the screw job that state farm did to me you would not believe it.

One evil company State Farm is.

I paid em since I was 16 years old for several cars and 4 homes to be my provider and when I needed them they became my worst enemy and treated me like one.

they got me good

My wife is a workman's comp attorney and I stated your case to her. They don't even take slip and falls at her firm because they are worth so little. Whatever your attorney tells you take it because obviously the you get the more they get. They often bring up this thing called comparative negligence which will they will assign a percentage of the accident to be your fault.

From the surgeon almost a year later. I'm not sure of the calculations behind it, or the logic, I guess it's not linear.

It's sure not a figure that that I could move at say 6 mph before, and lost 16% of that ability, I lost way more than that. It's doctor -speak that puts a number on it. Some sort of medically accepted definition of said condition.
