There is an increasing amount of solid and reliable information available (online and through private orgs) on the most peaceful and compassionate ways to either commit or to assist suicide.
IMO, anyone over the age of 70 is wise to have a plan made up for such suicide if and when they decide the time is right for them.
I agree 100%, Barman. You should be able to off yourself at will...like if ill and suffering, as long as you are of sound mind.
I, for example would not want to live if confined to a wheelchair or blind or in prison for life, etc.
The old jump off of a high place ....like a 10 story building seems like it would work, or a cliff, Grand Canyon, etc. Stopping a train should work. Heroin O/D might work for some....but I couldn't shoot up.
A person should have the right to decide, we do it for our pets, and that's considered humane, but people suffer until the very end.
I think it is really just hospitals sucking every last buck from you.
