You want to claim Maholmes as black. Some other guy wants to claim him as white.
How about mulatto because that's what he is. His mother couldn't be any more white. And his father couldn't be any more black.
Obama, by the way, is the one who characterizes himself as black. I've never heard Maholmes discuss race. And for that he has my respect.

And I love Maholmes because he's a smart, likable, extraordinarily athletic athlete with the football soul of a lion. Last night he saved and nursed that ankle until there was no tomorrow. The game was on the line and he knew if he could sprint around the edge he might have gotten the 10 or 15 yards they needed to win the game. He then could rest that ankle for two weeks. He couldn't get that edge he may have been able to get in perfect health but it was that timely guttiness that got the personal foul to accomplish his mission.
I don't think of Patrick Maholmes by the color of his skin. I think of him as an exceptionally smart and athletically talented football player.
