Hey Slim, glad to hear it! If it interests you and you LOVE it, go for it! But, a word to the wize, IT AIN'T NO WHERE NEAR AS GLAMOROUS AS IT SOUNDS! STRESS being the key word! The restaurant business is incredibly hard and stressfull. I can tell you I been in the Biz for about 13 years and have burnt out and gone back 3 times.

Understand I'm not trying to tslk you out of it, just a dose of reality that many people don't know... I hope you realize your goal and go for it! Just a tip for you if you go to school, go for a real degree, not vocational, aka Applied Science degree. Also, if you do, goto a Community College and get your Gen Ed classes out of the way, then thing's will be much cheaper for you when you choose a school like The CIA, or where ever you choose... A word to the wize though, make the school will accept the credits towards your degree.

Peace!

When I was much younger, I worked part time at a meat market. It was individually owned, and the owner taught me how to cut, among other things, over time. Even though it was a "meat market", this place also served lunch, and was famous around 3 towns for it's burgers. The burgers were humongous, and he always had a deal "Buy one cheesburger/Get One Free". I myself used to buy and eat these things......Until, he taught me how to prepare the meat he cooked for the burgers. The "hamurgers" were literally nothing but the fat trimmings from the meats. When I say literally, I mean 99% I/we would trim all of the meats throughout the day, save all of the fat in very large drums, and then either freeze it, or grind it up later that night. We put 5 pounds of regular ground beef, mixed in with each large container of fat trimmings we grinded, and once it is cooked, you cant even tell the difference. So actually the signs and adds in the paper should of always read " Buy one Fat~burger, get one Fat~burger free"!

Very good post -Slim-. For me, (and I hate to make excuses for myself), it's hard to eat healthy every day. The food sources here in Mall San Pedro aren't the best and I haven't been to the gym in a long time. Not too much time, a lot of good things going on at BHB.
I haven't read any books lately but, being a younger kid, I should take care of myself now before it's too late, and get off my ass.

Man!!!!!!!!!!! You have NO IDEA how much I'd pay to grab a handful of those fries right now, and shove em in my mouth. These fries look so good. In fact, that reminds me, my fish is ready in the oven..

has anyone else noticed that diet cokes at fast food places taste better than the ones at home.. Thats is, this christmas I am asking for a soda fountain machine... I am a diet coke freak.

I drink so many its unhealthy. That is proably the the most unhealthy thing I do. Well, besides smoking.

I am also a vegtable freak and cheese. I used to be a pasta freak, but the pasta was starting to grow on my ass. So I took that out of my diet.

The foods I eat are pretty boring. I eat basically the same thing everyday.
Breakfast: wheat toast or a boiled egg
Lunch: salad or a chicken breast (that is if I remember to eat lunch)
Dinner: a serving of lean meat and lots of veggies

This all changes though if I out out to eat. I splurge then.

But, the way to my heart is chocolate.
If you give me chocolate I will love you for the rest of my life. Its so bad, but oh so good

Ok boys, no need to panic with the pizza. You can still eat the pizza if you really love it that much, but this is what you have to do..

You see, everything on the pizza is allowable, except for the pineapple. So you go to your local health store and buy Soya Flour. Now you cannot eat the regular flour with the pizza, so you buy Soya Flour, just as tasty. Then you can pack it in. I pack in the pepperoni, the green peppers, the mushrooms, and boy, do I load up on that Mozzarella cheese. All this you're allowed to eat, as the Soya Flour is low carb.. So now you can have the pizza too. That is what I do. I have my lovely mommy upstairs bake me low carb brownies, low carb bread, low carb cheesecake (yum) I even eat the Atkins bar which only had 2 grams of carbs, compared to the 26g per regular bar. And it is wonderfully tasty i may say..

Just my two cents...

IMO it all comes down to exercise. I graduated high school at about 210-215lbs, I lifted weights a lot at that time but was also carrying a lot of fat. I joined the Army a little about a year later. The D.I. put me on the no-carb diet, no bread, potatoes, etc. I was medically discharged just after basic at the time at about 180lbs, still carrying some extra weight. Then shortly after that I ended up in Costa Rica. I got on a health kick here started playing basketball on a daily basis, lifting almost daily, jogging 3-4 times a week, martial arts 3 times a week. I dropped to 150lbs and achieved a 32" waist for the first time since I was probably 14 or 15 years old. I stayed like that for about 4 years and, I stress, eating whatever I wanted at any hour of the day while also drinking tons of beer and Cacique. As soon as I stopped working out the weight started coming back despite the fact that I don't eat much when I'm not working out.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, while of course I realize it's important to watch what you stuff your face with, I think knowing your metabalism and getting the proper amount of activity is more important.

I have been meaning to buy this book for a couple of years(for curiosity, as we all have an idea of what's inside), it came out in '00 or '01?..but bought Dr.Weil's 8 Weeks To Optimum Health instead.

If you workout regularly and drinks juices daily, then fast food will make you nauseous anyway.

Most gamblers(even pros with plenty of time to workout) seem to neglect diet, lack exercise, and abuse alcohol and some also drugs, but many pros also do the exact opposite and workout daily..thus justifying the wearing of jogging and leisure suits at such an alarming clip(but still leaving no alibi for the tacky jewelry or shoes).

Many "runners" used to wear jogging suits in the Sportsbooks back in the day, but the suit and job-title were as close as many ever came to actually running.

Being glued to a Don Best screen all day and having palpable bankroll in play make for the need of cut fruits and vegetables to be on the fridge shelve over beer and take-out chinese, as the stress will cause one to drink, smoke, pill pop, eat..or a combination of the aforementioned.

The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in. If you eat 3500 more calories than you burn you gain a lb. Eat 3000 cal a day & burn 2500 a day and you gain a lb in 7 days. Conversly, burn 3000 cal per day and take in 2500 and you lose a lb in 7 days. To help the process along, excersize to burn more cal and eat wisely to consume less cal (while fulfilling your nutritional needs).

Now the hard part. Make this a permanent undertaking. No fad diets because you can't keep them up (most aren't healthy over an extended time) and you put it right back on, and more, when you get off such a "diet". The exercise part has the extra benefit of lowering cholestrol, cleansing your arteries, lowers blood pressure, etc. blah, blah. You already know that routine.

ps You can eat wisely and still enjoy.
The extra benefit of exercise = It's
good for your moral.....ScottyS
