Great post, and I would like to add. After how ever many pages.... nobody will have agreed on anything or proven anything due to the reasons I have posted.

And after page 6 I will post who my choice would be like anybody would care.

This is a very interesting thread. Something that can be discussed but has no true answer. This is the whole reason why a billion morons can all be employed in the sports media business.

We can agree that PeeWee Herman would probably not be a good choice. But you can argue from now on about a few different candidates and none of them are verifiably correct.

What fun is it to discuss something that has an absolute correct answer like?.... Is LeBron anywhere close to being like Michael? (NO) (A man-beast, but does not make other guys enough better).... Or will Tiger ever win 18 majors and catch Jack? (NO) (Let his man parts and probable PEDs overcome his career)

Peyton Manning for me

I think if his knowledge and work ethic could be put into Tom Brady's talent/instinct, we would have a most ridiculous monster of a QB ever. Something about Peyton isn't at that level and I think it is a combination of his intensity and heart (his heart is too soft for this game).

Marino....if he played today, 6000+ yards and 60 TD's

Brady, Manning, Brees, etc...they would not have done jack back in the 80's and 90's. Just like Lebron, he is and has been playing in the worst era of NBA that there ever has been. He would be half the player if he played back when.

Not sure if Marino was greatest NFL QB ever, but I agree with everything said above, including about Lebron...

You think athletes have basically devolved in terms of ability over the last 30 years?

Tony Romo would light the 1980s up, sorry to break it to you nolastgia junkies...

The worst team in the NFL right now would beat the '85 Bears

I think its the appearance or lack of emotion. He just makes it look that easy.

That Bears team had one 300# (the Fridge). Now, its rare if you have a lineman that isn't 300.

Exactly....A WR who could run a 4.4 used to be the fastest guy on the field, now every WR that isn't playing the slot and is under 6'1 better be a burner.

Obviously you got guys like Marino, Deion, etc who are transcendent and could play in any era. To think someone like Brady, Manning, Brees or LeBron wouldnt light up past era's is absurd though

I can't prove it but Mark Sanchez would be a lot better QB in 1987 (in relation to his league ranking at the position) than he would be right now, even with tougher rules.
