People who think Winston is an idiot is an idiot

Maybe 5team can bump a thread. It was comical how people talked about him being a thug and a criminal. Rape is a very serious allegation and nothing to overlook. If team were convinced that he didn't do it that was all that matters. Without the media slander no one would care that he filled a water cup with coke at burger king or that he was shooting squirrels with a bb gun. Once those cleats are laced up he's the guy you want.

A year makes a big difference.

Last year everyone was down on Cam Newton.

I know not only from hearing fans, but I also had him as my Rx QB.

Now this year he is tearing it up & people are raving about him.

I made a thread asking if he will end up the all-time best black QB.

I think he will.

And I don't mean this to sound bad, but it's not like he has to do 'that much' to become the all-time best black QB.

Warren Moon...Steve McNair..Donovan McNabb is all he has to end up better than.

That small group is 2 tiers below the all-time best QB's ever who are Caucasian.

It would be stupid to compare the best black QB's to white QB's just like it would be equally idiotic to compare the all-time white RB's to the best black RB's ever.

Difference is night & day

Hache if you could go back into a time machine and do the first pick of the draft all over again knowing what you know now who do you pick if you are the GM of the Bucs for a day

The sad thing is 20 years from now everyone is going to be talking about the same shit.
Nothing is going to happen. There will be no wall . There will be no change.
People have been talking about this since JFK and yet here we are.
When are we going to realize this is all a waste of time?

Winston is surprising the heck out of me but as a Bucs fan Chop, we know that their offensive Coordinator has A LOT to do with what's going on.

I was all for Mariota, mainly because everyone was torn on the two, so I thought Marcus won it with his legs & speed.

As I said earlier in this thread, Mariota is on a much crappier team with nothing around him, and he's still doing a little better than Winston with possibly the best OC in the league Dirk Koetter, one of the best RB's right now in Doug Martin, two explosive WR's in Vincent Jackson & Mike Evans, and a much improved OL.

Mariota has none of that.

I still lean Mariota a little bit if I could go back in time, but not near as much as I used to.

Keep in mind Chop I watched Mike Glennon do very well his rookie year.

I watched Josh Freeman break team records on the offensive side of the ball.

So my point is I'm excited about what I've seen in Winston so far, but not jumping the gun just yet because it's wayyyy to early...

Evans has 2nd most dropped passes in the NFL this year, has cost the Bucs in some key spots. Winston's intangibles in the way of leadership far exceed Mariota.

I was kinda lukewarm on Winston comming out of college but I have very little doubt in my mind right now that he is going to be he best qb in he NFL in 4 years or less.

Aaron Rodgers is only 31.

Bortles is only 1 of three qb's to throw for 3,500 yards and 30 TD's at age 23 or younger . Overlooked because he is in Jacksonville.

Everyone loves Wilson and he is 26

Then you have guys like Stafford, Newton.

Winston is a little better then I thought, but has that " Luck " in him where the bad decision making comes in, to where he throws the ball up for grabs.....Mariota's decision making far exceeds Winston's..

I hope everyone watching Winston last night who hasn't seen him all season now knows the hype has been blown a little out of proportion.

Yes he's doing well for a rookie but he's been throwing high, wide, and inaccurate all season long and it hasn't gotten better yet...

For the most part this is not true. The majority of his interceptions come on throws playing to down and distance or when a td is needed. Its not that he careless throughout the game. The remaining are due to miscommunications and poor mechanics. The ones that are caused by bad decisions are not many.

I do think overall black quarterback play has risen and should continue to rise largely due to these specialty camps these kids are in at such a young age. Before, I think a lot of it was just put your best athlete at the qb position so you know he will touch the ball on every play and just let him out athlete everyone which some can easily due in youth football and even in high school and some even in college (Vince Young and Michael Vick) but in the NFL it doesn't fly. If you are Michael Vick and your entire life when then you had to make a play, you knew you could run just off instinct hard to be 24 and change what you have been doing your entire life at the highest level.

Even more so at fsu. If you go back and look at them as individual plays you will see what I'm talking about. Same qb's check down on 3rd and long. Jameis is throwing past the sticks. Never given him a pass. I've critisized him for poor mechanics and immaturity. The interceptions imo have never been a concern.
