It isn't blatantly rascist. But the inscinuation is there. Because Sharp is black he can say something and people won't care. A white guy could have said..."Well Texas doesn't have basket weaving (or some other remedial class), so he has to leave". If a white guys says it, they might as well have called Young a dumb ***. That is how the over sensitive types take shit like that.
Like when Jimmy The Greek said what is basically scientifically proven and got crucified for it.
I say shit around everyone, black, white, mexican, vietnemese, lebanese, whomever is at the card tables. That way everyone knows I won't discriminate. When you say something and know it isn't rascist then you either are definately not a rascit (because you have no ill will when you say it), or you are most definately one because you say it with ill will and don't know why it is bad.
It is a fine line I guess. In its purest form I guess it would be rascist, but without ill will I am not sure.
But it is just when people go out of their minds about stuff is when it gets crazy. Sharpe didn't say anything horrible, and if a white guy had said what I suggested earlier (no rap classes) that wouldn't be horrible either IMO. But I am sure some would take offense.
The more people try and seperate black and white, the harder it is for people to forget about it. It happens in the NBA, but people don't go up in arms, basically because it is taken for granted. But in football the blacks are still the minority, so the chip is still on the shoulder.
Wrong attitude to have. Just like if I had a chip on my shoulder as a white guy towards the NBA because all my "fellow crackers" got made fun of. That would be the wrong attitude to have.
When they start listing off the guys who have been killed in Iraq, they don't qualify each name with "a white soldier" or "a black soldier", they say AMERICAN soldier. So why does it have to go on in sports?
