Shannon Sharpe just said on the halftime show that the reason Vince Young is comming out early is because Texas does not offer ballroom dancing classes at Texas. What if Terry Bradshaw would have said that? He would have been gone tommorow.

So that's what he said.....

(I honestly can't understand 80-90% of what he says-especially when he's wound up & talking fast)

Unfortunately - this probably true.

You must be sensative in today's world.

Huh? I missed it, but was he not just making a crack that Leinart stayed at USC for the ballroom dancing but since Texas doesn't offer it, Young is coming out?

Don't really get how that's a racial thing...

Thats my point, its not a racist thing, but if a white person would have said that, they would have made it a racist thing.

I tend to agree that political correctness has gone too far but I just don't see it in this case. Maybe I missed something. Usually they have to at least mention the fact that he's black or use a definite, recognized racial stereotype for there to be a brouhaha, but I don't think ballroom dancing is one of those...

I think you could find a lot better examples than this one. I doubt anyone would get fired or even attract much attention for this type of statement.

What if Phil Simms or whoever was there said.."well they offer a RAP class, he could take that."?

Yeah, just like black comedians always talk sh!t about white people. But if you ever see/hear of a white comedian talking sh!t about the blacks, he will be burned at the stake/lynched/drawn and quartered, etc.

I don't get it. What does making a sny comment about a ballroom dancing class have to with race?

If anything he was trying to point out that Matt Leinart is the type of pansy who would take a ballroom dancing course in college. You could say the same thing about Kordell Stewart of Jeff Garcia.

I thought what Shannon said was funny. His comment was made just for humor and had nothing to do with race at all. Actually everytime I think about it i laugh...and I bet Matt Leinart laughed himself cuz Shannon probably didn't get the right class in ( ballroom dancing )but he had a few cake walk classes as most football players do as a senior.

Exactly...except making a comment regarding a black guy and rap, which is an art form typically associated with blacks, could be construed as a racially motivated remark.

Ballroom dancing isn't really thought of as something tied to one particular race like rap is to blacks. Poor analogy...

I still dont get it...If one wanted to turn this into a racist thing, what would their argument be????

Could some one please outline exactly what Jesse Jackson would be on tv saying about that comment if a white guy made it..

It makes no sense to me or most others for that matter who are baffled about how people are jumping the gun and making what seems to be bogus and totally outrageous claims...
