BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics on Friday signed forward Darius Miles, who missed the last two NBA seasons due to microfracture surgery on his right knee.
Six days after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, Brandon Roy arrived at the Blazers' practice facility in Tualatin on Wednesday without crutches or any noticeable limp. Between watching his teammates work out and feeling strong after the surgery, Roy says he can't wait to return. "Hopefully, in a couple more weeks I can get back on the floor and start shooting," he says. "I'll be ready for training camp. But there's no reason to push it. First, I'm going to do a lot of off-court things. Right now, I'm doing a lot of strength and flexibility exercises, trying to get my range of motion back. And [the trainers] want me to do some bike and some swimming. They want to make sure that the pain is gone and make sure my quad is built back up."
Former Heat center Earl Barron agreed to a one-year deal with Fortitudo Bologna of the Italian League. The Heat had not attempted to re-sign Barron, who will make close to $2 million in Europe. -:think2:
DENVER -- The Denver Nuggets re-signed restricted free agent J.R. Smith to a multiyear contract on Friday. The 22-year-old guard averaged 12.6 points for the Nuggets over the past two seasons. He shot nearly 40 percent from 3-point range, the best percentage in team history for players with at least 100 3-pointers.

BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics on Friday signed forward Darius Miles, who missed the last two NBA seasons due to microfracture surgery on his right knee.
Not that it matters for Paul Allen, but I would assume that with Miles no longer having his "career ending" injury the Blazers will be pushed well over the cap and now have to pay a substantial luxury tax.
Devin Brown has signed with New Orleans, and the Nuggets have resigned JR Smith. Looks like another year of the Nuggets giving up 130 a game. Especially without Camby, I cant imagine how this team is going to have totals south of 215 in any game. This team has no shot at all of getting to the playoffs now. The Nuggets continue to be the worst run organization in basketball, and considering this is the typical year that George Karl teams quit on their coach....give me the Under for total wins on this team. They will be bad.
