Also, its crucial that I do not show up intoxicated...I will just have to 'wing it'...

I strongly suggest you pick yourself up the Bose noise reduction headphones. Obviously it's a short flight so you want to stay away from any medication.

Dont sleep for 24 hours prior to your flight
My thoughts exactly, maybe even 36 hours or so...then, right before you head in, smoke a doobie and by the time you sit down and put your headphones on with some Floyd, you will be all but out cold.

I've had 5 times where I'm stopped in a car at a light or making a turn and I happen to glance in the rear view mirror to see someone barreling down on me at about 55 MPH and about 15 yards behind me. And I'm only 34.

once the guy swerved and hit someone else, I did not have a seatbelt on, I would have died if he hit me. the lady he hit, looked shaken up but OK. 3 times the guys behind me swerved away and zoomed past me ( no where near enough time to break) and missed me and missed other cars around too. one time I saw the guy coming and hit the gas and took off and the extra space I created gave him time to come to a screeching halt.

on the roads you gotta dodge people driving like nutballs, driver on drugs and drunk drivers. at rush hour people driving to or from work are the worst. their not drunk, just in a huge friggin hurry for some reason. its really dangerous on the roads.

flying is OK.

I'm afraid of flying too. Only done it once. Doing it again this feb to iceland.

First flight was to Paris... No suggestions. I just take my laptop and play games and listen to music and try not to think about it and I'm fine.

Just flew out of BWI and NYC. the secruity checks didn't take long at all. But the little ass airport in Greensboro took over an hour to get through secruity.

Driving thru the recent California monsoons was dangerous enough. People in socal don't know how to drive in wet weather. As for flying, it has never really bothered me. Flew by myself when I was 11. Pretty exciting at that age and for probably that reason always get kinda a positive vibe when at a Airport. :baba:

Flying is ten times safer than riding your bicycle around your neighborhood! Relax and enjoy the adventure! By the way, what is the reason for the trip?

= a happy flyer.

MP3 player and sound isolation headhones have made my flying experiences much better of late. You don't hear the constant hum of the plane or all those damn kids.

I never use to have a fear of things like flying til all the recent terror crap, next week I will be flying down to Louisville and I already am having panic attacks just thinking of being in that plane ....

Should I drink heavy? Its been 10 years since I have been on a plane?

LOUISVILLE YOU ind me asking for what, and I can tell you an area to go to have a good time.

The flight will be quick, but if you are scared, I would drink three hours before you fly...You know casual beers or drinks for a three hour period of time, maybe even smoke a bone about two hours before, then relax, and try to laugh. Always say a prayer for your safety before take off, and ask for your family to be taken care of, and then we you land safely always say thank you dear lord for letting me arrive OK

This is about what I do all the time, if not I would mental.

Ridiculous...

Im sure you are not gonna make fear factor Journey....

Fear of flying is an irrational fear.... it is much safer to fly than it is to drive or even walk.....

Take GRAVOL about an hour before the flight & you will pass out.....

I agree with those who suggest drugs or alcohol. But I would say it's best to have a couple of drinks before you board because they only start serving after the scary part -- the takeoff, which btw is the most dangerous part also. If your behavior is nothing out of the ordinary then they won't take countermeasures against you.
