One of my new hobbies in retirement is cooking and Whole Foods has lots of the necessary ingredients for some dishes. I am also contemplating purchasing their stock as well so researching it first hand is good. Today I went to another Whole Foods in another part of town. They bought out Wild Oats and converted their stores to WF. It was not nearly as nice or the vibe that I get in the other more upscale store.

The best one I ever went to is near my sisters in Northern Virginia. They have like three bars in the store where you can sit and drink beer or wine and they will cook up fresh seafood for you. It is truly a ridiculous store. My main problem then is the consistency between stores. It seems the nicer the area, the nicer the store. Something they should look into.

Whenever I go to the regular grocery store I see fat old ladies in nasty sweatpants shopping. When I go into Whole Foods there are ladies in business suits, strippers in high heels, and people generally look nicer, fitter and are friendlier. It is the diametrical opposite shopping experience of a Wal-Mart. Sure you pay more, but you walk out feeling better.

It has never failed when I have gone there that there are at least two or three head-turning women in the store. They ain't poor either if they are shopping in the land of $20 cheese. Just set up shop near the produce and look at some peppers and inevitably they will strike up a conversation about what you are cooking for. Telling them you are making dinner for your girlfriend just makes them that much more intrigued.

I've even run into a few Rx'ers there. I know it is hard to believe but there are some high rollers on here that like to eat well.
