Joey,
Great thread.
I recently stopped gambling (did wager heavy on BCS Title Game) and the wife went shopping and I said you aren't going to ask me if I want to go and she said "in 6 years, I have never seen you leave the house between Sept- April on Saturday or Sunday.
You are right, I get so much more done and feel better. I really don't watch sports much anymore. Personally, I think it is nearly impossible to watch sports when you stop gambling and don't have a team that you cheer for (at least in the pros for me).
I don't even want to think about the number of friendships and relationships I have ruined because of gambling. Every weekend I had an excuse as to why I couldn't go out. I always look back up on it with great sadness, as I have realized that I have lost some good friends along the way and would snap at people for no reason when losing. I was always easily agitated when I lost. Sitting on the computer like a loser listening to a Hawaii Basketball or Football game, hoping some 20 year old fucker could score to cover a wager.
Now, I feel much more relaxed and realize that there are other things, but as someone who doesn't drink, i do find myself getting a little bored without the action.
