Nothing against XPanda,

but why not allow the poly forum to be spammed with POLITICAL stuff. Posters should utilize the ignore feature. Also, couldn't robfunk handle this?

Excellent choice and great addition to the site, heard a lot of good things about her. To a degree though I agree with PPeter, why do you need a mod reserved specifically for that dump? I hope she isn't stuck completely in the political forum, if so then that would be a waste of her time and ability. You wouldn't catch me in that cesspool of hatred and anger for all the money in China.

Where I disagree with PPeter is the bit about a moderator needs to be "sharp" in their role here to be effective. I would use General as a great example, he would be the first to tell you he was far from being a wise gambler a few years back, still he was one of the best mods this place ever had. Same with Angelle and a ton of others, lots of ways for moderators to contribute to the RX without it being directly associated with gambling....

True, I do hope eventually she's more than just a "political forum moderator" but either way a solid addition to the staff. Welcome.

Pat great post....I agree on a few things I hardly ever go into the Poly forum and I do view it is a pool of hatred and anger also it is depressing and I have always wondered if some in there actually Bet because with the amount of time and passion they spend arguing with each other about politics I was noit sure they had time to cap games fully and play

..I think X is used to that and has a thick skin when it comes to that poly hatred so before the Ploy forum becomes Just another Rubber room, which IMO it almost is the RX is trying to save it I think.

ALso I agree with your statement about Mods contributing to the RX without gambling alot ..I am not a sharp in anyway nor do I want to be or gamble everyday like many do here especially when there is no foots ,
but I like to talk gambling and poker so I try to contribute by trying to make everyone feel welcome

thanks for he post pat

First, congrats to Xpanda.

What alot of posters dont seem to grasp is that there is plenty of great information shared in the political forum. Money has been made by regular readers of the political forum.

Whether it be sports picks or stock market information, there has been plenty of valuable information in that forum. One has to pick through the threads to find value, as needs to be done when reading any other rx forum. Plenty of drivel is posted daily in this offshore forum and rx sports forums, but also much information that is useful and profitable.

The problem was from ONLY a few posters bashing each other. Also the same posters were continuously spamming and hijacking threads.

Had that type of kindergarten crap happened in the offshore forum (also filled with plenty of drivel), it would have been long ago stopped. Each day several posters & sometimes moderators post redundant & non-gambling related material in the offshore forum.

The posters violating forum rules were repeatedly reported to Wilheim and other mods, and finally the problem posters were stopped.

Other posters have asked, "why does it matter if threads are spammed or hijacked"? It matters because if a poster spends 15 minutes posting a thread about a particular topic, its total horseshit for other posters who either are an attention whores, of another political viewpoint, or ignorant to ruin a thread that helps the forum share data and/or dialogue.

Its great that Wil finally made a decision to stop what was ruining a good forum and certainly Xpanda will do a fine job. Its probably safe to assume had other forums had equal levels of similar activity, Wil and other mods would have sooner ended the behavior rather than hiring another moderator.

A belated congrats and welcome back T.

I, for one, agree with WoofDaddy in that many of the other forums (political, financial, etc.) are underutilized by many regulars and a boost to those forums would only increase the popularity of the site.

With an increase in popularity would mean an increase in ad revenue translating to more and richer contests and giveaways to posters. So any move to help out these forums, I have many times mentioned a stock contest for one, would benefit us all.

That's very likely to happen over time Dante posters, mods, friends fade away over time. I have a close friend from my time in Vegas that I'd like to contact just to give him a hello. It's not very easy to locate a guy named Martinez that is most likely now somewhere in Socal, best guess being Santa Maria, I know tons more about than just that ,like his middle name, he's a semi -disabled Vietnam Army veteran, some work history, associates in Vegas, approx age of about 65 now, X-WIFE'S name, has 3 daughters, quite enough to find out if he is still alive anyway, easiest starting point would be to call his buddy Juan in Vegas who should be easy to find since he's a contractor, but yeah you do lose touch with people over time.
