Willie has a history of holding old white guys up on a pedestal. You should have seen his comments when Obama won. I mean going off on how Romney won the "working man's vote", which he claims is the white vote. He definitely shares Sterling's ideology and believes that these black guys should just be happy the white guy is giving them money.
I understand, man. I, personally, don't understand how anyone could defend Sterling, although I'm not sure why it took people so long to realize what a scumbag he is. Quite a bit of information has been out there for awhile. His comments about his minority tenants where far more offensive than the latest stuff in my opinion, yet no one really seemed to care. Glad he finally got what he deserved though.
