I remember back when today was one of my top 5 favorite days of the year.

Obviously it was better when top players would stay 4 years rather than leave after 1.

There is this thing called the free market though and as crazy as it seems, guys would rather make 1-4mill a year guaranteed for atleast 3 years with the potential to earn more down the line than free room and board. Shocking, I know....

C'mon these aren't robots! Who is gonna passup guaranteed life changing money when you are getting peanuts compared to what the NCAA/schools make off of you.

Yeah that is fine but saying teams shouldn't draft guys unless they stayed for 4 years of college is pretty absurd.

Maybe if the schools/NCAA gaveup some of that TV $ a few more guys would stay....Oh wait, that is against the rules or something.

These kids aren't as dumb as people think, they see all the $ being made around them and want a piece of the action. Just human nature...

The NBA was behind the 1 year thing. Since a lot of guys were going from HS to NBA the scouting at HS, AAU tournaments was getting a little out of control. I think the NBA knew it was just looking slimy having agents talking to kids during their senior year of HS, having scouts at all the games, etc and wanted to significantly diminish that.

I realize CBB suffers from guys going to the pros too early, but its just kinda way of the world. Can't really restrict someones ability to earn...

Be happy it isn't college baseball atleast....The amateur sports model in america completely flawed anyway...
