That's awesome cheater. Is that him in the picure?

Yes it is Borat and thank you.

Swami, there really is no trick. We just try and stay with a schedule of "sorts" and try to control his nap times.. We started rice about a week ago. We mix 3 tbs of rice to 3 oz of formula and "try" him on that+ 5 oz of formula at night. He's dring 7oz on average. I don't know how big your child is, but ours is a little over 16lbs so that's gonna make a big difference on food, obviously. He started sleeping 6-7 hours about 2 weeks ago, so your not far off..

Also, here's a couple of the good books we have:

What to Expext The First Year by Murkoff, Eisenberg & Hathaway

The American Academy of Pediatrics,
Caring For Your Baby and Young Child, Birth to Age 5

A good tip from one of the books was try and let them nap in their crib and also let them cry for 15 minutes before you go check , then give them their binky and leave.. If that doesn't work after another 15 minutes it's ok to pick them up and hold them for a while until they calm down and try again..We use to have him in the bed with us alot(up till about 1 1/2 months), but we had to change that or we'd be screwed..

The whole key is a schedule, when he gets a bit older it will be easier to make the schedule a reality.

Swami, also try giving him a bath a bit before bed time and spray him with the sprayer if you have one on your sink, my kid loves it and it relaxes him before bed time.

Thanks cheater for the tips.

Baby Swami loves the bath so we do that as part of his bedtime routine.

I'm guessing one big difference regarding our children is diet. Our little guy is 13.5 pounds and eats nothing but breastmilk (lucky kid..lol). My understanding is that formula fed babies tend to sleep through the night better since they need to feed less often.

I'm all over the books. I have What to Expect in addition to a few others including a life saver, Happiest Baby on The Block. I'll checkout your AAP suggestion.

Thanks.

Never thought I'd buy a minivan but... I LOVE IT. With two little kids, 5 and 3, it is invaluable. Load it up, drive to beach... grandparents...wherever. Can't wait until this van craps out and I can buy a loaded Odyssey. I think that makes me officially gay.

Just got back from ST. Joseph's Womens Center in Tampa Bay (looking distance of Raymond James), wife just delivered the first born, 8 pounds 7 ounces and most importantly they are both healthy. Just bought a wireless computer so I can watch him and the computer at the same time. That 9 months flew right by.
Happiest day of my life.

My co-worker has a 16 year old daughter. I told him I couldn't imagine having a 16 year old daughter. He said point-blank "it's hell".

Cheater-

I'm in my 30s. One reason I decided to start the family now is that I really didn't want to be an old man trying to keep up with a teenager.

I have 3 ,,,,,,,,one 9 and 2 seven year olds :icon_conf its nutty and crazy but they are a blast.

By the way Cheater when your in your 40's you will not be able to keep up with them :lolBIG: :toast:

5team and cheater are you in your 30's?!

does anyone really have their first child in their 30's does it ever happen?!

im 31, im thinking there is no chance. im just not ready for it, i want to be a parent in the future, just not anytime soon. becuase id rather raise him/her in an enviroment when im not drinking beer and gambling i want to be done with this phase of me first clearly not there yet :drink:

rob, you are so correct with this... i got the drinking out of my system but still do gamble although not as much... i had my first one at 32 and i now have 2 and its the greatest... nothing compares to how great kids are... this past year my 2 yr old (soon to be three) was watching a football game with me and a team was lining up for a field goal and i said come on miss this, she looked at me and said come on miss this because all she does is repeat everything i say, sure enough he misses, i say yes, she screams yes and it was a moment when we looked at each other at the exact time and she came running over and jumped in my arms and said yeah daddy he missed... i was stunned and needless to say from that day on, i dont say nor act like anything is going on at all during any sport now... all she does is walk by the tv and if sports is on, no matter what the sports, she tells me she wants to watch the yankees with me...
