I've disliked them since the 70's - the whole America's team thing that you mentioned - Jerry Jones doesn't help.... And, I live in Texas too, and have to listen to the fans. I don't really dislike them as much as it probably seems like I do given my posts on here. Some of it is just in fun...
Romo is actually a fairly likeable guy, he just seems to turn the ball over in some real critical situations.
Although you didn't ask me directly, I'll give my two cents... I grew up in Philly. Dallas is considered our #1 one rival in the NFC East. Always have been and always will be. I read somewhere that this surprises Dallas fans because they consider Washington their #1 rival. That kind of furthers the hatred. Our rival doesn't even consider us their number one foe.
Beyond that... most families in the Philly area love the Eagles. That being said, their are the occasional black sheep. A son, maybe even a daughter.. that dismiss the Eagles and embrace the Cowboys just as much as we love the Eagles. You can find these kids in the high schools wearing their Dallas shirts. Usually one or maybe two per grade level. Just walking around flaunting Dallas colors. It's not like these black sheep embrace some other teams... it's always Dallas. That pretty much sums it up for me. Our #1 rival and the occasional traitor walking around the streets and flaunting it. I HATE the cOWBOYS
