If that was the worst beat of your life, it must have been your first day playing.

Many of us have been caught by runner-runner perfect perfect to hit Quads or equivalent....and more than once.

3-4 over A-J barely raises an eyebrow for most players.

I understand he was all in with two live cards but damn he needed two on the turn and river and got them both and then looked at me and said "sorry." I said "no you're not so why say you're sorry?"

I understand, busting out of a tournament as a favorite in a showdown is not fun. Been there, done that. But that's poker.

If you want to play a competitive game of skill and logic without the luck factor, play a chess tournament instead.

Dude this was unlucky but very far from a bad beat. If you think thats a bad beat in poker you should quit playing right away. AJ is a shit hand you should have folded that was the biggest error you made

I got some payback today boys. I wasn't going to play in the tournament but I did and was down to the final 4 with the same guy that played 3-4 yesterday.

I put him all in with my 7-7 (he was down to his last 3,000 and I had a good amount). He called me with 4-4 and the flop gave me 7-7-6. Game over.

So you're telling us that you just happened to play the same
tournament today, and it just so happened that the other guy was
playing too, and it just so happened that you made it to the
final 4 - and it just so happened that the other guy did too?

Seems far fetched... but not impossible.

You guys amaze me. You guys would risk your tourney on a 3-4 huh? I wish you the best if your explanation to me is he had two live cards. He made a great play didn't he? I made a good call and the guy had ass and he sucked out with the most amazing runner runner ever and I'm the fool huh?

There are times when its absolutly the 100% correct move to move in with 72 offsuit in a tourney.

If you dont believe me, ask Phil Helmuth or Doyle Brunson.
You need to learn the term fold equity.
Poker is not about having the best hand at showdown, its about winning the pot before showdown.

If he had a 30% chance of winning the hand if you called and there was a 70% chance of you folding, his odds are all of a sudden over 85% to take down the pot with his all-in if he read the table right.

I assume this guy was in the cutoff position or close to it.
Its poker.

If you cant find spots to make hands like 34 work for you you will never be a great player.

I already tried to explain all of that to him, not sure if it sunk in...

Uh no, he was first to act and went all in and I read him like a book and called. FIRST TO ACT.

Do you know what's really far fetched? For me to post on this site for a long time and often in the poker forum and to come in here and just make some shit up because I feel like it. Do you know how dumb that sounds?

I was on vacation in Vegas and the Southpoint Casino was across the street from the place I stayed and they have a 10 A.M. tourney every morning. WTF does it seem so far fetched that while on vacation this guy and myself entered the same tourney two straight mornings and both made it to the final table? How dumb does that sound to you? I played in the morning tourney for 5 straight days and saw dudes playing all 5 days.

It's not a consiracy. I'm not Kodiak.

no offense but boss i am going to say you are wrong here.

Plus I have no read anywhere where you said size of blinds.

Final table so had to be huge.

So my thought is this

You said he went all in first position. So he BB next. BB was probably 1200 to 1600. He figure may BB folds with his move. With 2400 he has no shot to make any move if he waits till he in BB.

I agree with his play

your revenge.

We disagree but that's ok. I guess I just looked at the board after the flop and our cards were revealed to see the guy needed an enormous amount of help. He needed two cards to beat me and he got them both so it felt like a kick in the nuts.
